Like it or not, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are the Rakim and BDK/Nas and Jay-Z of this era

Smh. Ok.

You dont seem to be getting this so lets try this again.

Im willing to bet that im way older than you.

When Kanes 3rd album dropped

This was considered to be the point when he started to "fall off"

HOW OLD WERE YOU AT THAT TIME ?

Dont reply or respond unless you answer that question.

I bought that album and I thought it was good.....i especially like the Dolemite skits but i digress

If you can answer my question assuming you were even born.. here is the follow up

Would you compare yourself then
To how you are now????????

No. Because that would be fukkin idiotic.

Same reason you cant really compare two dudes who existed in two different eras

One has advantages & challenges that the other would never have dealt with and vice versa.

The whole fukkin WORLD is different

There are entire Countries that dont exist anymore since then son.

these dudes arent buzzing in the streets enough to even be considered the young mc/vanilla ice of this era.

OP is a L7 so this ridiculous thread comes as no surprise.

The thing is, there's been so many better rappers than J Cole and Kendrick during the 2000's, but the dominance of guys like 50 and Kanye West fizzled them out.

Kendrick Lamar is very talented, he and Drake are the only new artist to be mentioned with the Jay's and Nas'. J Cole is dope but he doesn't have that impact factor.

No. :laff:@Wale being at his best making songs for women, nikka :what:.

Pick any song J. Cole and Wale have both been on a song together and 90% of the time Wale out raps him or draws with him. Wale's just annoying and starts doing that haiku shyt so people don't take him seriously. Anyway, long story short--all these new guys rap at about the same level (as another poster said) and their differences are down to marketing, perception and what they do with their talent. I know everyone has their own opinion, but when you're trying to objectively evaluate artists you have to see beyond yourself and take a holistic view of it all. Personally, I no longer care about all this trying to create tiers and I just judge off whether the music is good or not. I like most of these new guys, but don't think they're as good as the aforementioned. Doesn't matter to me though.

I like a lot of his singles, guest appearances, and his verses on the MMG projects, especially Self Made vol 1. I cannot get into his albums though.
