Chinese national anthem

:mjlol:

I'm about follow through so it will not be brief. The guitar having the option to be quieter than my violin allows me to practice without killing my ears.

Electric over here, you got your kids playing?
Hell no .we play with drum machines and punching bags

Once you've finished learning the chords, now it's time to study the scales. All 7 of em'. It's good to be able to play melodies in every key, in all three ranges, and to be able to play bass lines that lead from one chord to another. This all might take you a few years to master, but it all depends on what type of player YOU want to be.

The more you learn, the more you can come up with your own style. The music books, cds, and tracks are where you're going to get the most bang for your buck. When you can alternate between different styles while staying in the same chord is when you can really develop some things.

Reading the books isn't for everybody though (takes time), but they do usually give you a little history of the style you're trying to play. I have a good African guitar styles book that I loved to practice from. It just introduces you to more ways to play and different techniques that people around the world use while playing.

Lots of videos on youtube also.

I'm going through all of the chords and my fingers feel messed up. Played my violin and my fingers felt in agony. Gotta ice them, going back to the guitar in a few.

Sounds good, sounds like doing this will lead me to more improv and in the moment creativity. I'd love to flip between, metal, blues and soft rock.

Learning some Bob Marley on the guitar right now.

As somebody who learned to play piano by ear and improvise (with both hands), just keep sticking with it.

Remember music needs a lot to come together: your ear, your mind (music theory), your body, etc. It’s not a process that can be rushed. Be patient with yourself - we all grow at different rates. Embrace the rate you grow at.

This is what I also appreciate about the guitar, it's not as rigid in improv. Spanish, Classical and African, there are so many styles to learn.

I have a researching mind so I'll definitely be checking out these books. I do have a weakness of not listening to a track and trying to figure it out myself. My teacher says I have to use both as resources as I move forward.

Take your time. Most of it just muscle memory anyway. :salute:
