AG.

Lol at people acting like AG was a pop album. it's probably the only Jay album besides RD where he was more focused on creating a cohesive project than pandering to radio. every song fit the concept

considering the fact that it has The Don and Summer on Smash on it, LIG is more of a sellout record than AG

Cherry Wine...No Question..

Cherry Wine just had me :wow:

AG is a solid album but not better than Untitled or LIG. Nas just proved me that he can do anything with his music that you don't know what to expect froim him. Jay-Z just like you wouldn't be surprised and I can expected him what he's going to do with that album. All I can saying is Jay-Z didn't impress me unlike Nas.

Jay-Z is more like care about marketplace/$$$, Nas is more like care about MUSIC, ART FORM, etc.

:childplease: I thought I was a Nas stan until I started posting on the coli. Has anyone read these responses, it's like Nas stans know that American Gangster is the better album but they don't want to say it so they come up with these completely unrelated talking points to justify their vote. When will you all get off this "hip hop purist" nonsense to justify your musical preferences? All this age this and that and all that other stuff is making you embarrass yourselves. Why are you mentioning Untitled in a discussion of LIG vs. AG?

Who are you to say what is art and what isn't? You just basically said that you voted for Nas because you like his music better in general and him better as an artist in general. Which is fine if you're just talking about who you prefer as an artist. But you didn't say anything about the two albums. It's crazy that people take music that seriously. I didn't realize that this was another undercover Jay vs. Nas thread. :deadrose:

American Gangster is good. But there's something about it that feels a bit forced. You have a 40 year old multi-millionaire talking about selling crack. It was a nice throwback to RD but it was still a bit awkward.

Life Is Good is Nas baring his soul on record. Taking about failed relationships, fatherhood, growing old, losing touch with his roots but still showing his optimism and why life is worth living. Basically, it's the type of record 40 year old Hov should be making, but either can't or won't.

Life Is Good raises the bar for veteran rappers. It shows that hip hop doesn't necessarily have to be a young man's game. But you first have to grow up and at times it seems that Hov is stilling living his second childhood. And that's why Nas will always be better.

:ahh:

Despite the fact that the coli loves to compare them at every turn, Nas and Jay are two completely different artists with different life experiences. therefore it's unfair to say that Jay should be making the same music.

Jay is the most successful rapper in the game and married to Beyonce. If he made an album like LiG people would be :aicmon: and tell him to stop complaining

:rudy: American Gangster came out in 2007, what the heck are you babbling out? The critically acclaimed American Gangster which Nas co-signed and was on?

American Gangster was the more cohesive album (obviously it did have a theme so it should be) and was better musically.

I'll have to sit on lyrically.

But here's a tough one, Cherry Wine vs. I Know.

Not a huge fan of Jay or Nas, but "I know" is my favorite Jay song that isn't on Reasonable Doubt. Same with Ignorant shyt.

I agree with you b.

That whole artistic shyt is just pretentious nonsense. Just listen and appreciate these two dudes for who they are.

Neither of these nikkas are dying for you. :birdman:

AG is one of those rare albums with crazy production and crazy lyrics.

Life is Good is really fukking good too.

I have to agree with this, Life is Good is a great album and arguably the best album this year, but American Gangster is (to me) Jays 2nd best album and maybe one of the best albums of the past 5 years. I am disappointed in what Jay has become, but American Gangster was an incredible album.
