American Gangster is good.
But there's something about it that feels a bit forced. You have a 40 year old multi-millionaire talking about selling crack. It was a nice throwback to RD but it was still a bit awkward.
Life Is Good is Nas baring his soul on record. Taking about failed relationships, fatherhood, growing old, losing touch with his roots but still showing his optimism and why life is worth living. Basically, it's the type of record 40 year old Hov should be making, but either can't or won't.
Life Is Good raises the bar for veteran rappers. It shows that hip hop doesn't necessarily have to be a young man's game. But you first have to grow up and at times it seems that Hov is stilling living his second childhood. And that's why Nas will always be better.
