I re-fell in love with this album recently. Someone did a review and I checked it out since I hadn't fully heard LAD in a while. MAN!:whew:.

Bruh was really breaking the lines down and revealing things that I didn't know about. I was reciting whole verses that I havent heard in years:wow:

GOAT album? I don't know about all that. One of the GOAT albums yes. One thing that album displayed was how biggie was just in a another stratosphere as far as emceeing goes. He just flexed in every aspect. You wanna know what he could do on a midwest type joint, he did it. Wanna know how he could do on some West Coast shyt, he did it. Want dope story telling? He did it. Flexing on a party club joint? He didn't. Lock him in booth with a bunch of other spittaz, he did it and outshined them. Like he did everything on that album and showed he was leagues better in settings you think a eastcoast rapper couldn't get busy in. Even the song playa hataz he made it ok okay for a non singing nikka to sing. Big set a bar on that double album that hast even come close to being touched again for a double album. As much as I love AEOM it just doesn't compare. AEOM for me feels like a bunch of dope songs put together and pac staying in his lane doing what he does well already. LAD for me is Big saying I'm the best but I'm going to show you I'm the best through my versatility and creativity, that way you can't question "oh but can he do this" no I'm gonna show you I can't be fukked with in any aspect of this rap shyt.

Hate to say this in March because it could be perceived as disrespectful but...one day we gonna admit LAD's status as an album is largely inflated due to Biggie's death. If he had lived, a bunch of nerds and "real hip hop" heads would constantly be arguing that it was was too commercial, too clean, too many ladies/club tracks, and not as good or focused as RTD.
:yeshrug:

It's a really good album full of 5/5 standout tracks but it takes RTD's biggest flaw (the ladies tracks) and makes it worse. And if you wanna say AEOM had ladies tracks too.......Pac was always better at ladies tracks than Biggie. All About U, Skandalouz, How Do You Want It...come on it's no contest.

for me to even call an album classic, I gotta fukk with every song. thats the problem with double albums....there is going to be some shyt in there that would be best left out. very good album but it never crosses my mind when people bring up best albums of all time. its their opinion tho. I would say there were better albums before and after.

Breh, him dying literally stopped nothing in that regard. He still caught flack for being too commercial, too clean, and too many ladies/club tracks since Ready To Die. That didn't change when he died and those same people still hold that criticism of Biggie. Biggie was public enemy #1 to a lot of them.

Life After Death is held in high regard because it has a lot of classic songs on it. Had the album been Yeeah Baby status, nothing his death could've done to inflate its status.

That is exactly what happened, lol. That sect of people shytted on the album and their reasoning was exactly what you just said. The "hip hop nerd" backpack type guys shytted on It Was Written the same way, probably more. You can't go off what they say, lol, they have awful taste most of the time...if the shyt don't sound like 40 ounces and black and milds was all over the studio while recording the shyt then they think it sounds too commercial or sumn.

"His baby’s mother, she tripping, blaming me
And his older brothers understand the game it be
Kinda Topsy turvy; you win some, you lose some
Damn they lost a brother, they’re mother lost a son"

One of the most heartfelt bars ever on a track

if i ever saw such crock of sh*t in my life, this takes the mf CAKE!

BIGGIES BIGGEST SONGS ON RTD ARE THE F*CKIN LADY JOINTS! We gon' act like "Big Poppa" and "One More Chance remix" (#5 on the billboards) weren't the biggest bangers for him smh :snoop:

If Big would have lived, "F*ckin you tonight" would've been a single, possibly a remix after that and it would've charted just as high. BIG was a master at lady joints, f*ck is you talking about?? :heh:

Breh, just say you a pac stan and we'll leave it at that. They both we're great at the lady joints, hence why pac started getting HITS, it's aight to like both :salute:
