Yes or No?

Do Deep Cover, Straight Out Of Compton, bytches Ain’t shyt, Growin Up N The Hood & Lil Ghetto Boy have a west coast sound?
they are west coast tracks, from the sound of the production, rapping style, flow it is west coast.

Herein lies the problem...nobody cares about what’s being said. We are speaking STRICTLY production. Does Cube rapping on Bomb Squad make the production itself a west coast sound versus Chuck D? That makes no sense. Deep Cover, bytches Ain’t shyt, Straight Out Of Compton etc have always been favorites for east coast rappers to freestyle over for a reason. You take off a synth or flute and it’s your typical NYC beat yet once again nobody would dare make a case for those being east coast songs so why are we trying to force an argument for Got My Mind Made Up just because Red & Meth is on it? Most of east coast rap at the time didn’t carry that sort of production..

Maybe this?

Maybe this?

These were pretty clear attempts to capture a west coast vibe. Got My Mind Made Up would have been out of character production wise for Redman, OC, Prodigy, KRS, The Wu, Duckdown etc as songs of their own

Kurupt is rapping with the same ferocity here. If Redman & Meth were featured on this who would say this is an east coast song?

IDK how anyone can try to disqualify Got My Mind as a east coast track

but sit and count Going Back as a west coast track. The shyt dont even sound west coast, it sounds like a sloppy rendition of east coast nikkas making what they think is west coast rap sound.
As several have said, AEOM did what LAD a whole year before it. With no point of reference for Pac to go to.

if you prefer LAD, Cool. But its no more versatile than AEOM. Infact it doesnt have certain aspects AEOM has. One nikka brought up LAD having introspection, street, girl songs, etc. But AEOM has that

while also having concious/social songs, and a whole anthem joint with California Luv.

And if AEOM is just a collection of songs with Pac in his lane, idk how Big's isnt. Its not like this nikka changed rap styles. He was still on the same subjects, concepts, execution of rapping he was from RTD. Minus the rawness/wackiness from RTD.
So you think notorious thugs and rapping with Bone style is his lane?? Pac doing those things are his lane. He been doing brenda got a baby type songs lol. Big doing a song like "Missing You" was not his lane but he did it flawlessly. My post wasn't to shyt on AEOM which I didn't. This is about what big crafted after RTD. RTD big didn't show how much range he had LAD did that. Even on "Playa Hataz" you can feel however you feel about that song but, Big wasnt scared to sing on a track and put it on his album even tho he wasn't known for that. AEOM is dope and I'm not here to debate which album was best. For me its LAD. Because I put more stock in emceeing.

:comeon:rapping does matter, espescially in this convo about what song X album sounds like Y region. Its why people like you and others like to argue for LAD's sake that Notorious Thugs is a midwest track. That poor attempt by Big to rap in Bone's style is something nikkas like you love to utilize to bolster LAD's "versatility" on top of using that flow to talk about how "versatilie" BIG was.

But now it dont matter? LOL wow, well aint that convenient for you

@bold: this is stupid take away any vital instrument in production and of course its gonna sound different. you idiot:gucci:plus tacks like the NY NY and some of the others you menioned have west coast sounding kicks and drums that make it stand out from the east. So its more than that.

@2nd bold: for the same reason you and those with the similar views sit here and act like LAD was touching all regions, calling Going Back to Cali a "west coast track" or Notorious Thugs a "midwest track":bryan: neither of these albums or really any album back when Hip hop was more regional focused(and not regionless, like it is now) is gonna be 1:1 in copying a whole other region's sound and style:comeon:

Pac never did songs like "Cant C Me" or did tracks like "No More Pain"

and Big was chrooning/harmonizing on Machine Gun Funk for a few. Playa hater was just a extended version of him just doing that and messing around.

if your point is that Big stepped into new avenues, methods, etc then fine. But its not anymore versatile than AEOM is.

"Lil Jon raps on DJ Premier beat...Jon has an accent & chants...therefore this song has a crunk sound."
"Jadakiss raps on a Miami Bass beat...Kiss makes mention of his timbs...therefore this song has an east coast sound."

I gave it and you buried your head in the sand so let's continue!

"Big Daddy Kane raps on a DJ Paul beat...initially this could be mistaken for a song with a Memphis sound...until Kane mentions being a 5%er...at that point the song now has more of a Boom Bap sound."

A song like Deep Cover is practically an East Coast song without the synth
A song like Black Superman is a West Coast song no matter how you slice it
A song like bytches Ain't shyt is practically an East Coast song without the synth
A song like Dollaz & Sense is a West Coast song no matter how you slice it

A song like like Ambitionz has a West Coast sound whether it's Pac rapping on it or Cam

What's so hard to comprehend?

Life After Death is the most complete album of all-time. Very very well rounded with so many hit records that all sound different. From Mo Money Mo Problems (radio record) to Notorious Thugs (classic posse cut) to Sky’s The Limit (inspirational joint) to I Got A Story To Tell / nikkas Bleed (storytelling) & Hypnotize (party record). Not to mention Going Back To Cali. Also, tremendous street records like Ten Crack Commandments, Kick in the Door & What’s Beef. As well as Long Kiss Goodnight & My Downfall as well as the chilling You’re Nobody (Till Somebody Kills You) to end the album. Just overall the greatest album ever recorded
