What's going on guys how's everybody doing? Been slowly improving. I have to manage my time better though cause I get so addicted I want to train everyday but have to remember I have a wife and kids to take care of. It's only been a month but I can tell I've gotten a lot better. Not throwing my arms out, trying to keep everything tight and heavy. Not getting tapped as fast. Can't wait to be good enough to compete in a tournament.

Getting back into the groove of things after a 3 year layoff...

getting held down by 3 stripe white belts. :wow:
getting tapped fairly easily by other blue belts. :francis:
higher belts... fukking forget it. :snoop:

gotta get my stamina back up and muscle memory back.
Family hit me with a layoff.

What helped me prep for that first day back was a solid month of circuit training

3 sets of this circuit

8 pullups
40 pushups
20 ab wheels
Grab 45 lb plate - deep squat, swing plate up in the air and military press, bring plate behind head

Repeat x 20
Same 45 lb plate do core rotations x 20 holding plate like a old lady at the steering wheel torquing core so you can look behind yourself

Plate exercises should be done with maximum controlled force

4 days a week for a month? Give you some decent breathy. I didnt care how long it took me to finish either :birdman:

Adjust sets to your level of flab

Guess it's time to become more than a weekend warrior.

How is any art going to protect you from not paying attention
Oh my. People say that but fam I was rushed by hella nigs.. Lets be honest. Its like walking out the door of your house and nigs looking for a Vic jum you. I wasn't readfy [kevin hart voice].. That was a losing situation. It was unprovoked. I'm not superman and people paint unrealistic scenarios where I had some chance. Nah.. I was simply rushed by idiots looking for a vic

be a grown man and get tapped by a 15 year old brehs. i would have tried to ragdoll that little motherfukker fukk leg locks in that scenario.

but seriously :jbhmm:nicky's leg entanglement defense was interesting to me. i've been messing around with it this week.

Been doing Insanity for the past 3 weeks and my conditioning has gotten way better. I used to struggle through the rounds of rolling at the end of class but now at the end I'm like :feedme:

Now if I could just have the technique to back it up. I trip out cause the more I learn and the more I train the more I realize I don't know anything. The mountain gets bigger and bigger. Even watching matches I'm noticing stuff I didn't see a few months ago. Wonder what I'm not seeing now.

Y’all have any advice for someone who used to avidly train at a top tier camp 20 hours a week and due to my business picking up, moving and being on travel regularly, I’ve maybe trained 20 hours this year ?

I personally have felt like if you can’t put in 15-20 hours a week training you are kind of just spinning your wheels. My base is solid and I’ll always have grappling ability but life is so hectic and busy it’s hard to even into the gym. Is it wrong to take a break like I have and then come back after 1-2 years Off and come back to training?

Why would that be bad bro. You’re taking a break while still being healthy. There’s plenty that have to take long extended breaks because of injury or other unfortunate things. Where there’s a will there’s a way, when you can try and make time for it, why not try giving it a go.
