I do a judo/ju jitsu mixed class. I like it except for the gi. We dont have a no gi class, but We do have an mma class though with a lot of grappling. Im just focusing more on kickboxing for my first fight then im going to dive into the ju jitsu. Its fun but i need to really work on flexibility. Its like i know what i want to do but i sometimes cant do it cause im a stiff pos. Haha

:yeshrug:i do both
Me too, but it kills me when people say No Gi is more real, look here in a fight there's a great chance your opponent is wearing a shirt, sweater, jacket, They asses will get choke out with their gear, or control them.

I agree with Grandmaster Helio Gracie Jujitsu philosophy

if Royce could dominate in the original UFC against guys that weren't in GI, then yeah it doesn't matter about gi vs no gi. I personally prefer No gi because you could just come into class in casual wear, seems more comfortable. Plus I heard stories of ppl rolling in Gi and getting sick after because they didn't clean theirs properly.

One of my coaches nearly died because he had a cut from rolling and the club was ran by Brazilian BJJ dudes who didn't wash their gi, and got sepsis. He lost much of his muscle and nearly died....

I currently cross-train Judo, BJJ, and No-Gi...

The hardest part of BJJ and No Gi for me was developing a game plan that is the end game (submissions). In Judo, we focus on throws then pin to win the match..

BJJ is different as a big throw just gets 2 points and meaningless without a dominant position after. My big problem in bjj was getting a north/south or kesa pin and just holding it lol. Now it is getting side control then americana or a baseball choke.

From bottom I just get my half, create a little space, knee shield, and try for various sweeps. If I fail at any point, just Judo bridge lol and get back to neutral.

The mental and physical conditioning is unbelievable, and why I love grappling...

Guess a better question for this thread is

Wrestling vs Judo

:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

BTW

I think I'm understanding what the blue belt blues mean. Just when I think I've leveled up I struggle with the next technique being taught in class or I get my ass handed to me at open mat, oh the stories. I do my best when I just accept that I'm going to be on the defensive for the day. If I go in with the mindset of "ok time to take my beating" I usually catch a lot more kimuras(my favorite sub).

I love rolling when it's open mat, Rolling with Blue, Purple and Brown Belts not in class settings:ohlawd:

And I don't pull guard, fukk pulling guard, It's all about takedowns, My judo and wrestling comes in handy, when I surprise them with the Okuriashi Harai Sweep:whew:
