Did you ever end up training Eddie's 10th Planet stuff? And another style I would like to learn. but yo I have question whats so different about eddie bravos style of jiu jitsu? I thought dude maybe added a couple new subs with crazy names and maybe focused on the rubber guard a lil more? I dont know break it downn breh.
naw,I found something under the Nova União jiu jitsu umbrella...Did you ever end up training Eddie's 10th Planet stuff?
I know I'm pushing 2 years late, but IMO Eddie's biggest difference is that he teaches his own personal game and markets it heavily. At least it used to be that way. A lot of people don't teach their personal game and let students develop their own games. The instructors that do teach their own games don't usually market it as something "different" than regular jiu-jitsu. Eddie is a great grappler and loves the sportial art. I disagree with a lot of his opinions, but he's cool.
Daps/reps for a fellow NU guy! Glad you're on the team!naw,I found something under the Nova União jiu jitsu umbrella...
what belt level you at right now? I only got like 4 and half/ 5 months of trainingDaps/reps for a fellow NU guy! Glad you're on the team!

REAAAAL as fukk right here but yea right now its all about defense and escapes,I'm stocky/muscular built dude and getting tossed/rolled/sub'd easily by dudes(blue/purple belts)shaped like Napoleon Dynamite gets to you in the beginning but it does makes me appreciate the art more when you see technique>brute strength,And also when your coming over from another combat art where youre use to doing your thingI've been there man.
I've been a purple belt for a few years now, closing in on brown hopefully. I don't care about the belt, but I want to have that skill level. I've been doing martial arts ever since I was a little kid and been doing bjj for 9 years now. I was awful for a long time. I spent well over 4 years at blue belt.
It's hard as fukk man. 4-5 months in is really really hard. That's like the worst it gets. Because you're still new enough to not have much offense, but you're not so new that people take it easy on you. Good job on sticking in there. Most people's ego can't hack it and they leave. I told someone the other day if I knew ahead of time how hard it would've been to get where I am (and I'm nothing special) I probably would've quit. I just did a pretty goofy martial art before I got into judo and bjj and I was just determined not to suck and gutted it out.
.
yea man thanks, I use to be able to train a few times a week but I had to cut back due to work and other shyt, same with my boxing...I'm sure you're doing good man. If you're going out there and training I'd say the first 6-9 months is just about surviving, and working your defense and escapes a bit. It really sucks, I know. It only gets easier man. Do you get to train a few times a week? You like where you train? If you ever need any tips or resources, I'm pretty nerded the fukk out on this stuff. I have lots of instructionals and videos and I write articles and stuff. If you're ever working on anything, need any advice, or want to talk shop/technique, drop me a line anytime

Man when Davi kinda vanished I didn't even realize he had gone to mma. I'm surprised he didn't stick with it. He's so fukking explosive and technical.Davi Ramos is a killer.
But i like that
Gonna need to work on that striking for MMA though. Caveman wore him down by surviving.
He took that Decision L in 2014 fell back to jits, beat a ufc fighter in adcc, won Abu dhabi and is now hoping the win was enough to get him a ufc contract. He's gonna get exposed again if his striking coach doesn't get him past throwing Hendo b0mbsMan when Davi kinda vanished I didn't even realize he had gone to mma. His flying/jumping armbar on Lucas Lepri is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. Lucas lepri never pulls guard, and that was the first time I've seen him do it in forever. I'm sure he won't do it again anytime soon! Ramos was the dark horse of that division and while I didn't actually call him to win it (I called Lepri), I gave him a much better shot than a lot of the analysts. I knew after his trials performance that he could do it and even back in 2011 when he was crushing IBJJF events but sometimes getting DQ'd for leg reaping, I 've always wanted to see him in ADCC rules. He took that Decision L in 2014 fell back to jits, beat a ufc fighter in adcc, won Abu dhabi and is now hoping the win was enough to get him a ufc contract. I'm a Judoka but will take some BJJ, Not a fan of the sport side of Judo and BJJ, I train for self defense, and when I do train it will be Gracie Jujitsu, I like Master Carlson style aggressive....Other than that Respect to Grandmaster Helio and Carlos Gracie, Grandmaster Luiz Franca and Oswaldo Fadda
@Mowgli ?Brown belt 2 stripes. I prefer to roll as close to reality as possible so i dont do spider guard, mainly closed and open guard. I enjoy butter fly sweeps. In particular, placing my opponents first in his stomach and then using a hook to sweep him over effortlessly. Same thing from half guard. From closed guard i do a cross sleeve grip and then do a hip bump sweep without wrapping my arm over the elbow. Just grab the wrist or sleeve and bump them back.
My game is to sweep from the bottom, and submit from side control or mount. Knee on belly from side control. With gi i enjoy wrapping the gi all the way around my opponents neck from mount. I enjoy the ezikiel from mount or side control. I enjoy collar chokes from the bottom. I use collar chokes to sweep while my opponent defends. I can collar choke from any position. I have trouble with people who play spider guard and are very strong but i learned, recently actually that you have to be patient with spider guard practioners and wear their legs down if their guard seems impassable, They will break eventually. My strength is in the scramble. I am not easy to submit but i am suceptible to foot locks which i tap to without much resistance because i dont want to gamble with my legs.
I dont train as much as id like to so my game isnt as good as it should be but hopefully i can help my training partners.
