My gym does a trade like once every 2 months where my instructor will go to the Judo gym and the Judo instructor will come to our gym. Yea they go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly.

Then we have a former d1 wrestler -Brock lesnar ass ni*** who got blue belt fast as hell
Yes judo is the most brutal elegance for standing

Lol. When it's time to learn that standup the wrestler bruhs take to the technique well. When they are t just doing wrestling moves. They also have good workouts. If you can get your conditioning up outside the gym you'll be fine. Alternatively you can just train 5 -6 days a week.

Just hope wrestling bruh isnt doing the same

When you have a young bull who's taking the time to master leg locking systems that involve heel hooking and they're not even a blue belt you can find yourself getting embarrassed watching them go for your heal and feet like a deer in headlights. Especially when they're well over 200 lb

I spent a lot of time learning how to keep my legs away from those kind of players so I can just work tight passing. I don't want any part of someone's leg lock game but at these MMA gyms where anything goes, anything can happen
Yeah that’s a big part of the game in no gi. Fortunately I’ve been training with the best leg attacker in our area(my 18yr old). He’s been heel hooking black belts in competition since he was 14yr old(green belt). He did a lot of nagas because they knew him they would let him compete in adult expert 145lbs(he’s been training and competing since he was 6 1/2)Also Agf before they went to the belt rank format like ibjjf. We also trained down at 10th planet Atlanta where they are just leg lock savants, they love the outside heel hook from ashi. But through the years he’s evolved to top heavy pressure passing. We love using torenado pass to force half guard to get to head arm passing which makes life very miserable for bottom players, also tight waist and body lock but the goal is to force halfguard. He’s also keep me sharp with the newer advancements with the entree’s of leg entanglements like false reaping(which he pisses me off with cause his flexibility). But I dont play any 50/50 shot outs with leg locks i look to come up, leg drag to a tight waist or body and go head/arm or slip to the back. Them legs a dangerous world and you right about them blue belts.

Yes the modern leg lock game has me feeling like an old man trying to learn computers. I hate it but it's necessary.

I'm leading with my top half, on the knees resetting if they try to roll into leg entries and otherwise trying to get their knees together and back on the ground so I can do some slick slides past the legs into side control or do a low knee slice with underhook and opponent flat. Take side control and begin the stamina drain.

Hopefully this leads to mounted/s mount and a seated armbar from top. Otherwise straight up arm triangle from sidecontrol or moubt or my signature sub from 3 quarter mount. Zzzzzzzzz. Boring ass game. I just give pressure till they get careless. Think I'm going to focus on judo, back takes and chokes for 23. Since I like knee cuts I'll work back and forward step kneebars and pray the Good
Lord doesn't require me to get into heel hooks.

As a side bar constantly working that BULLshyt leg defense!!!! :mjcry:

Black belt feels like a target on my back. I can't ever stop training now or I'll become a clown

Check out victor hugo. He has a meeeeeean gi knee bar game. Prolly can YouTube him if you don’t have flo. Brehs lick they chops at black belts nothing feels better than saying “yeah I choked out a blackbelt” when your a lower rank lol. Knee cuts are still legit legit. Just a pain to pull off when someone plays inside de la riva then go into inverting or bolos🤦🏽‍♂️ but that’s a convo for another day lol

I hate martial arts politics. That's why lower belts must be crushed. You will earn your way to the promised land.

Make me feel like a damn clown not giving my best game sometimes because they'll make some slick comments every now and then to act like they really getting over on me in some positions. I Let, you rock. But, we have to be the good example and represent the school correctly :aicmon:

Some of these lower belts spaz so much I have to protect them from themselves when preventing passes. Young cats knees be poppin like rice krispies trying to blast their way through positions like they saw Some beast do on YouTube.

I roll based on the energy my partner has....if they are chill, I will work on new ideas, new transitions. Fight from a position I normally don't play (x or spider) and see what they can do.

If they want to learn the hard way and treat it like Worlds....we can do that too but I take a mostly relaxed view to rolling. Turn the heat up when needed but I gain nothing personally than beating up some lower ranks. I want to help them get better so I in turn get better.

They don't respect it. White belts are the only players who deserve mercy. Crush the rest, spare the women and children.

Dominate position, go easy on submission

Need a challenge? Work on specific sweeps/submissions you don't commonly do

First off :salute:
I got a new respect for you BJJ guys. I trained/rolled with some black belt guys(they had red ends in their black belts with 3 white stripes on them, IDK what they mean, not gone be disrespectful)
Learned to make my transitions from one submission smoother :obama:
But even they was like catch is more brutal and for the streets. Plus they admitted how much length and strength plays a part in rolling/grappling :dame:
I haven't been doing catch as long as those guys been doing bjj, their techniques were better but I was able to over power them
The instructor said"yeah you're built for catch, your panic is different, you just power escape and then go to next technique/sub"
It was different not using strikes like catch but I was able to pull this move off

My coach called me out after class in front of everyone and says I can't keep relying on strengthen and being too forceful because it's not making a difference. I don't feel it's a personal attack, I think he does that because he sees potential.

The first 7 month's I would just go to 3 classes, and regular gym two times a week. Now I'm watching videos in my spare time to really reinforce the concepts.

At black belt I’m not sure how I feel about the strength and athleticism criticism in Bjj nowadays :jbhmm:.

Tell your coach and upper belts to stop you if it’s a problem :sas2:

Lol nah I think he meant it like I spazz (I think that's the term) and try to use strength and athleticism out instead of technique. I rolled with a black belt and he told me the same thing, it's a bad habit

If they can’t stop it or sub you while your spazzing :yeshrug:

The current meta in BJJ is do whatever it takes to stand up right now anyway
