First week training post pandemic. Everything hurts. Training at a random gym to get my cardio up to make the long drive to my main gym. The journey to black belt begins. I'm really gonna make the push to get this done. Hoping I don't get hurt in the process. These new cats are strong as shyt, huge and are not playing around.

Good luck breh....yeah especially if they not hobbyist. My son doing ibjjf no gi open next weekend, he's 17 about to get his brown in December( his coach gave me the info). I don't train with anyone but him because I couldn't handle the wear and tear every other night with randoms anymore lol.

I usually give people 3 minutes to attack to guage who's trying to train and who's trying to really fukk me up in places outside of the base.

Some of these folks are not playing :damn:

You need a stretch routine brother. If you don't stretch, get rekt. This is a lifestyle.

Also, I eventually am going to be a dentist. In fact, I'm studying for my DAT right now. Do you think that doing martial arts such as jiu jjitsu or judo would clash with my profession as I will
be using my hands alot.

@Mr. Somebody
Ok answer for them.

You have to learn finger care if you really need them things. Tape them up and don't land fingers first. Palm first or forearms. Get a grip builder and squeeze that thing daily

Been on vacation and drinking and shyt and came back to the mat's and getting my ass beat again. Still a 1 stripe and people that started after me are way better. I'm good at sweeps but not submissions been watching and listening to John Danaher to learn some tips.

Gordan Ryan defeats Andre Galvao

@TheDarceKnight

Kade and Tye Ruotolo were low key the highlight of ADCC to me. Tye beating Felipe Pena :whoo:

My heart was hurting when Mica got subbed thought he was impossible to beat. But props to Kade I know him personally him and his brother are great young men. Also Bodani subbing Diniz was huge. As well as Pj beating Jt.

If you hate leg locking as much as I do you'll appreciate this video and maybe or hopefully adopt a little knee slice in your life.

It's good to learn leg locking defense on two levels. One preventing the entry from happening in the first place. When people see that you are not going for any entries they may switch up to another part of their game or they may just completely shut down and let you wreck them.

The second level is obviously when you're actually in it and understanding the mechanics so you don't tap too soon.

yo i've been thinking of joining re-joining a bjj gym and starting from scratch.. i got 2 stripes WAY back - i'm talking 10 years ago.. but my body is completely different now.. had a lot of injuries etc.

do you think i should even bother turning up to train or should i get into a stretching routine first.. how should i decide if i'm ready

Just show up and train. Do warmups and technique and go home before sparring if you want to go but are concerned about getting hurt. If it doesn't work out you can quit again.

If your injuries would be aggravated just from doing techniques then you should probably try something else until you're ready
