I think there needs to be land reform but done in stages, seeing what works and making sure agricultural productivity doesn't drop. The last thing we need is SA running back with its head down in 30 years like Zim is doing now. I don't think this is 100% serious though and think it is more left-flanking of Ramaphosa.

When they said "uncompensated" expropriation, I knew they were either crazy or bullshyt. Yeah, that's what the Whites did 100%--even after Blacks had land rights in the Republic of South Africa--but that would just tear the country apart at this point and there is no central figure like Mugabe and his clique that could properly ride that shyt out.
Don't think SA will be running back 30yrs from now. 30yrs from now the world is a vastly different place...

but yeah given enough time that land will just revert back them. The whites are either leaving in numbers or dying off currently.

Good thread.

South Africa will likely boom economy wise in the 2020s for a few reasons. One of them is the sweeping migration of disaporan Africans throughout both the east and central Africa. Don't believe the census reporting on expats and immigrants. They are poorly conducted and generally don't explain the scope of migrations in and out of the south.

Currently south Africans have a putrid reputation among their fellow Africans within the country as a result of the treatment many face when they set up shop there.

Their mindset is utterly disgusting tbh. My uncles told me of what they had to deal with when they opened stores there in the late 2000s.

Gotta give Mugabe credit in a few areas. He may have been badshyt insane but he cultivated a greater African mentality for his people.

If SA can secure the same agricultural and trade agreements that Morocco secures, I'm confident they will thrive eventually. They just need that mentality.

Also it's high time the African union is discussed because as it stands it's a broken, fundamentally weak system.

Which replaced the OAU which was a broken and fundamentally weak system. They need to be serious about what they are moving toward. Either they have a plan for pan-African economic and/or political integration or they don't. If not, I find it hard to see what their purpose is besides being a UN-lite with occasional peacekeeping.

It still boils my blood they let the Chinese pay for and build that HQ too. That's saying a lot about African unity and planning currently.:snoop:

South Africa's Malema Shuns ‘White Feelings’ in Presidential Bid
Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, said he would first seek to unseat Athol Trollip, the mayor of Port Elizabeth whose Democratic Alliance party he says promotes the interests of whites over blacks. “All white people who are voting DA, who are angry with what we are going to do in PE... all of you can go to hell, we don't care about you. We don't care about white feelings,” he told a crowd in Johannesburg, according to AFP.

They have absolutely no plans for the future. Imagine a system of trade agreements with travel between countries.

China won't rest till my kids' birth certificates say made in China at the bottom :to:

Yeah I'm somali.

And even while the West demonizes him his entire platform was Africa for Africans. His economic decisions were unwise but homie taught his people how to

The more I look at things the more I realize every African nation requires a kagame. An authoritarian man with burning ethnic pride to actually lay the groundwork. This shyt ain't working right now

The issue though is the old 'Bad Emperor Problem'. Namely, good emperors can do great things for their people but how do you ensure you get only good emperors and not bad ones? I can't see replicating Rwanda across the entire continent. Even with the Tutsi/Hutu shyt, Kagame basically has a country that is linguistically homogeneous. Also once they stay too long they don't plan for secession well. My big fear for Rwanda is who is going to carry the ball once Kagame is gone. They won't rule for life like him, no one else has the prestige.

Also, Kagame and Museveni are kind of 'fukk my neighbor, let me get mine' types. If we had a continent of them, maybe some things would work but continental integration would be toast.

If we had some Nkruhmahs, Lumumbas, etc. with the same Pan-African mindset but market orientation, I would be much happier.

In the short term yea.. but in the long term nope. I mean yeah during the good strong man's tenure, it wouldn't be likely. But once those countries are built up with mature economies... I could see it.

Also you're gonna need some serious tribal consolidation on the continent going forward.
