Only reason the ANC is probably doing this :skip:

It's a smart strategy to undercut the EFF for the ANC. In one struck, now you get more "leverage" on the issue over the EFF. And you leave the DA completely removed from a now-national debate lest they be perceived as neo-colonialists (which they kind of are already).

I'm unsure if the ANC is being cynical about talking about land reform or if they genuinely wish to re-distribute land to black farmers.

Are the ANC REALLY going to do the land reform? Because they keep stating "motions are in place."

They will create a committee that will see if land reform is possible without amending the South African constitution. Depending on the findings of that committee, the pressure may turn on the ANC once more to do something. Especially if they're constitutionally allowed to engage in land reform without an amendment.

yea a smart strategy for awhile...

If they don't come through... I could imagine the EFF will come back in a big way. The DA is whatever..Africans were never gonna vote for that party like that

I don't think they actually mean it. But maybe that is just me being cynical.

I think there needs to be land reform but done in stages, seeing what works and making sure agricultural productivity doesn't drop. The last thing we need is SA running back with its head down in 30 years like Zim is doing now. I don't think this is 100% serious though and think it is more left-flanking of Ramaphosa.

When they said "uncompensated" expropriation, I knew they were either crazy or bullshyt. Yeah, that's what the Whites did 100%--even after Blacks had land rights in the Republic of South Africa--but that would just tear the country apart at this point and there is no central figure like Mugabe and his clique that could properly ride that shyt out.

Plus the issue of all the debt the white farmers owe to banks.

Bingo. To be completely honest though, if SA had another generation to wait, I think Blacks may get a lot of that land by default due to the low fertility of the White population and the fact most farmer's kids who get educated don't go into farming. At that point when the kids don't want anything to do with the farm, they could be willing to sell. I doubt SA has that much time to buy though.
