It won't even make it to 2020. I say this because due to the country's current state, I cannot see Nigerians voting for Buhari or APC into power for the foreseeable future. Unlike GEJ, Buhari is a military man and will not yield power so easily, causing widespread violence in the country which will be exacerbated by the militant groups in the Niger Delta and the sectarian groups in the East. Also, unlike in the 60's, the West seem to be prepared for a dismantled Nigeria and would probably choose to not interfere as aggressively as they did then.

explain if you don't mind...

but I do agree with you. Don't think the west would mind a dismantled Nigeria at this point

Western "preacekeepers' will be sent to keep the "peace." They will then arm a warlord strongman who will be a puppet of the West. Then they will use divide and conquer and take control Nigeria's natural resources.

I can't remember the source but I remember it being said that American had predicted Nigeria to separate as early as 2015. I presume that they meant after the 2015 elections and they were probably shocked that Jonathan chose to cede power peacefully rather than violently. I don't believe that the incumbent President would be as kind as GEJ so the US prediction may come true after all, just at a later date than expected.

They're especially not happy with Nigeria's budding friendship with China.

A lot of Nigeria's problems come from being ruled by dictators off and on from 1966 to 1999.

So what in your opinion is the biggest problem in Nigeria that needs to be addressed for the long term survival of Nigeria as a nation?

1. Devolution of power to states or regions from the bumbling federal government
2. Resource control and ending the Land Use Act and other legislative supports of the rentier economy
3. Cleaning up the Niger Delta after more than 50 years of pollution
4. Infrastructure development to foster quicker economic growth, particularly in the country's hinterland.
5. Enshrining a totally secular state to appease Christians, dissuade Islamic extremists and keep the country operating under one legal system.
6. Practice free market economics and abandon statist mercantilism.

I don't see peace keepers being sent in.. but I could see terrorists and a strongman being armed.

A lot of Nigerians are optimistic without asking questions. They will shout hashtags such as #UnityinDiversityNG without asking serious questions about the federation and how it alienates wealth from the Niger Delta. They will praise Democracy Day but they won't ask where is Sheikh Zakzaky after the Nigerian Army kidnapped him and killed 1000 of his followers including his children and possibly his wife. They praise Buhari despite taking into account how the country is now in recession.

Bear in mind, a lot of the people you see on social media are paid by the APC party to tweet positive things about the current government and of Nigeria. Most of them are hypocritical and amoral.

I am cynical about Nigeria. I question Nigeria's reality.

This video is by some Azerbaijani cat who makes geopolitical videos. His analysis in other countries are pretty good. He seems to be optimistic about Nigeria's future.
