I visualize this...

Africans in the Sahel and East Africa STILL eat like this which is interesting. Meanwhile many people associate this eating style only with Near Easterners.

We still eat like this especially on special occasions like weddings and such.

:whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

I had a hunch they did! Since Southern Europeans UNLIKE the rest of Europe were connected to the Trans Sahara Trade. Damn do you have a source for this? This adds even more layer to debunking the silly idea that West Africans were isolated from everyone else. lol.

own quarters in which they could live in the utmost security with their goods, while pursuing their business. 6 For the most part these were Arabs from North Africa, Egypt, and Yemen, and Europeans, especially Spaniards. Some of them were even students in Timbuktu, as will be seen later. Black Africa was hospitable to foreigners.

I have a source for the italians, give me a second, it's buried somewhere in my library

NICE! This is why I love creating my "Lets Talk Africa threads" because good info like this always gets posted. I know I keep saying this but again it debunks the silly notion that "SSA" were "isolated" from the world. Anyhow, I read that there were Jews in these Western Sudanic empires and they acted as financiers. Gotta find the source.

But please post that Italian one.

You're right about the Jews. I think that they called them bilal ed sudan(spelling?) I remember reading that some Askia absolutely hated the Jews, and forced them to convert to Islam. Might have been Askia Ali or Muhammad

Yea Jews were discriminated against viciously. I don't know why when Pagans were not that badly.

As promised I said I was going to cite good info from this book I just purchased for this thread. Anyways, here is one bit of info that I found very good that all should read.

It may surprise most readers but it remains a fact that the majority of enslaved Africans were inoculated against smallpox BEFORE they were deported from Africa. The Mano of Liberia were among a number of West African peoples that invented a smallpox vaccine before the Europeans. Susan McIntosh and Roderick McIntosh, both experts on Ancient Mali, state that blacksmiths, such as the Bambara, also developed a smallpox vaccine before the Europeans. One enslaved African in Boston, Onesimus, taught the treatment to his enslaver in 1720s. The University of Djenne taught surgery in medieval times. One area of specialism was eye cataract surgery.

West Africans were really an ingenious people...:wow: And we still see it today.:wow: If only black folk can tap into the scientific side of our ancestry more like we already did with our artistic side. :wow:

I said it BEFORE. Mande people are among the GOAT Africans that ever lived...

Fact.

During the ebola stuff my aunt actually made a remedy that "cured" people who took it. I use cure loosely because peoples symptoms went away but I won't go out and say it's something official that completely fixed the problem.

This is why I get offended when people call African Sciences "witchcraft". African Sciences produced medicine that were meant for good but could be used for evil the same way we see with pharmaceuticals in the states.
