There's nothing to monitor on these chan sites though, as there aren't even any user profiles, it's all 100% anonymous. They draw in young kids with crude humor and they slowly become desensitized and indoctrinated into this bizarro world or lonerism, racism and hatred that all these shooters seemingly have in common. It won't stop all these events, but it will definitely slow them down just as the creator of the site stated. Even if it prevents just a few, that's easily a hundred or so lives saved right there.

Feds can't shut the dark web down. The Silk Road, which was a dark website, was shut down by the feds which allowed people to buy and sell drugs, guns, etc. The dark web just refers to a general collection of websites that aren't listed in search results where some very scandalous or illegal stuff can take place. Most of what happens is anonymous and very hard to track.It ain't shut down. There are ways to access it.

It's peculiar that Backpage was shut down in order to thwart sex trafficking, but many other blatantly-violent echo chambers are allowed to run. True, if the chans were blocked tomorrow, the problem wouldn't immediately go away. However, the fact that hate and heinous acts are normalized so much in those places is what contributes to the increasing number tragedies. I'm all for free speech, but there really should be no place where stuff like this is celebrated.
