Dude, one of the first things I was taught was coping mechanisms, just because there are things that can HELP, doesn't mean thats going to eradicate and dismiss whatever it is you're having trouble with. Coping mechanisms are just things to help making it a little easier, it doesn't mean it isn't a biological issue.

Do you know anything about how the DSM is compiled? Or any of the criticisms in the field of psychiatry?

We can't seriously have discussions about this cause people are so quick to validate their experiences without looking at what they're claiming to actually have.

I respect you as a poster but it seems like you

Honestly, you're not a mental health professional,
Never claimed to be.
or a religious expert,
Doesn't take much to be one :lolbron:
you're just someone who spends too much time on reddit reading opinions from cheeto finger stained fedora wearing acne faced virgins who have read too much,
Uh...not really :heh: Neither of any of those.
and lived too little so get the fukk off your high horse with your bullshyt threads that you make to try and flex that you're much smarter than everyone, you self righteous @sshole.

I get it. Anyone who veers from the reservation gets met with contempt.

Look man, I respect you as a poster most of the time, but the way you try and get what you're sayin across really just comes off as self righteous, like you're speaking down to people as if they're children.. that's not how you get your point across. it just makes people want to disregard anything you have to say.

Bipolar and depression was never a progression thing, for me. it didn't just happen out of nowhere.. it was something I always had, even as a child I remember having REALLY high highs, and really low lows. having horrible anxiety and fearing people. I've never just been in the middle.

Sorry for throwing insults your way, but it's really frustrating when someone who obviously never first hand experienced it tries making it seem like it's just as easy as 1,2,3 because they've read a few books.

But my thing is this, do you think its a result of how you were raised, your environment, your perspective, OR something being wrong with your brain?

Do you think its a correlation in regards to your "ailment" or a causation?

It could be. I didn't have the best at home life as a kid, but there's plenty of people who didn't, and they've adjusted just fine.

I genuinely believe it is something that is wrong with my brain and something that could be hereditary.

my family on my moms side has quite the history of mental "illness" and disorders, raging from bipolar, to manic depressive to my brother actually being mentally "challenged", he has William syndrome, to be specific.
