nikka nobody giving a fukk about no JayZ here. Since I'm on it JayZ basically benefited off DMX's popularity by using Swizz and the Ruff Ryders to incorporate more street appeal into Hard Knock Life Volume 2 . DMX was headlining tours in 1999 with Cash Money all over the Country while JayZ was stabbing fat nikkas for bootlegging his albums in clubs. Jay didn't really get that Megastar appeal until Blueprint dropped. Jay was emerging as a star, Hard Knock certified him as a player but X ran 1998-2000. Thats was his peak

i refuse to conform
I was just talking about his verse on nikkaz Done Started Something.

It had been a while since I heard that.Forgot how ferocious he snapped on that shyt back then.

Hall Of Fame level type spitting.

That's the thing about X.Some of his work is spotty and comes off gimmicky(whole dog barking shyt) to me.

But then he'll show flashes of brilliance.I'm going to always respect him for "Slipping" and that verse he laid down on nikkaz Done Started Something.

That was the apex of X IMO

say what u want about x now but back then he had the streets on fire

he was the hottest thing out in 1998

He was even hotter in 1999 going into 2000. I remember hearing What these bytches Want, Party Up, and Whats My Name EVERYWHERE. He didn't really have singles for Flesh of My Flesh other than Slippin because most of that shyt was too raw for radio.

But 2000 X was at his peak

Yeah, X was a force, but to say Jay wasn't shyt during the same time is crazy. He sold more records (HKL went on to sell 5 Million), headlined the HKL tour, and still sold 3 Million the next year with Vol. 3 after his shyt got bootlegged a month in advance.

X's run was crazy too though. Add Ja Rule to the mix, and Def Jam was unstoppable then.

Number for Its Dark and Hell is hot:

It was certified 4x Platinum by RIAA on December 18, 2000.

Flesh of My Flesh went 3 times plat(Same year, Where Jay at?)

Number for And There Was X:

The album sold very well selling roughly 698,000 units in its first week and went on to be certified 5x Platinum making it DMX's best-selling album to date. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart, firmly ranking DMX within hip hop's only artist to have their first three albums enter the Billboard Top 200 Chart at the #1 spot.

Not to mention the headliner for the Ruff Ryders/Cash Money Tour throughout 2000.

DMX's impact was more felt than Jay's during that time. Learn and deal with it nikka
