The show was trash, and it's laughable to put it anywhere near the all time greats. Any "great" scenes I can't even give credit to because it's easy to create a great scene if that's all you have to worry about. It's not as if they worked on the plot making sense, or answering any questions.

Fred.

Still holds up well for me...:yeshrug:

Never a diehard fan. But, I wanted to see the end. Just to show all my friends I was right from the get-go, when I said they were all already dead.

They were not dead when on island or during the course of the show. You saw them in the future afterlife after they had all died and were waiting for each other.

A lot of these questions are bullshyt, some were answered or heavily implied.

As much as I enjoyed the fan culture, this was one of the issues I had with it....people became ultra petty with the theorizing, and it got to the point where trivial matters became more important that character development or pacing.

For instance, "Who built the four toed statue?" We saw, when the survivors were jumping through time (I think it was the episode where Charlotte dies, maybe not though), that at one point, the statute was a giant Anubis looking thing. We also later find out that their were different groups, at different times, living on the island (Jacob, his brother, and his mother for instance). It's clear that one of these past groups built the statute...people eventually started asking for too many explanations like this.

Yes, there were some plot holes when all was said and done, but I've never understood "Where are the ANSWERS". The major issues of the show we're eventually resolved.

So, true.

Good show. Season 6 was very lukewarm. They ruined a lot of stuff in season 6, they undone a lot of hard work from the previous 5 seasons. If they only stuck with flash forward & the battle between MIB and Jacob that was more than enough. Every time MIB/Locke was on the screen it was eerie, because his eyes look so empty.

People forget this was not some cable show that had to produce 13 episodes every season. If people liked the first 3 seasons, that's literally 6 seasons on cable.

As Syndicate just said, you were completely wrong, your friends were right.

The only time they are all already dead on the program is during the season 6 flashes...these take place in an afterlife of some sort.

Everything else happened in the "real" world.

I think that many people thinking they were "all dead the whole time" was a major reason for the backlash the finale had. Most folks didn't even understand what they saw.

I remember that the shows used to air on ABC, and right after Kimmel would come on. For the finale he had some of the cast and crew. Directly after the credits rolled, Matthew Fox (Jack) was on the couch pretty much in tears from the emotion of seeing the last episode, and that dolt Kimmel looks at him and says "So, they were dead the whole time?"....:pacspit:

The black smoke monster *was* explained.

It's just magic, unfortunate as that is.

Edit : My favorite theory (Before we found out what it actually was) was that it was Cerberus. The three headed demon dog. I remember niccas were eating heavily offa the Blast Door Map having "CV" (Cerberus Vents) on it. And of course, there was nanotech. Gathered souls. I remember one really fun theory that thought it was a giant octopus type creature, because octopuses secrete a black liquid in the ocean to scare off prey....

 I thought it had a lot to do with ancient Egypt, like the drawings and the architecture of a lot of the ruins on the island and shyt. Especially so when they saw the huge statue and how long the island been around. I was like :ohhh: the land to explain the dawn of our civilization.

But nah :sadcam:

cant believe peeps were feelin the last season, the moment they started showing the afterlife scenes/stories that was it.I wasnt really as insulted with the finale as some tho..After they already escaped the island and were forced to return how else were the showrunners going to end it with a feeling of absolution

The series finale I didn't even have a problem...it was Across the Sea, the backstory of Jacob and smoke monster. Probably the worst episode of Lost, it was the slap in the face that pretty much gave me the sobering reality that this show just wasn't all that.

The worst thing for me though is completely ignoring the Egyptian mythology, after spending the entire show hinting at its significance. Oh, and the Walt garbage.

I don’t know why people are having trouble understanding this, as it is clearly explained in the final minutes of the finale episode by Jack's dad. The original Oceanic 815 plane crash happened. Everything on the Island through seasons 1-6 happened. The only thing that didn't was the “flash sideways” universe in season 6 which was a purgatory universe everyone had to go through in order to move on to the "true" afterlife.

In other words flash sideways was basically reincarnation. Now to go on to the after life meant that they had to go together.

But to dikk away a whole season 6 on "new" stories and characters was like a slap in the face.

I aint going to front, that Oprah book club Season 3 opener was so fukking ill. I'm like what the fukk is this shyt then  at the plane and camera zoom out.
