That's because kids today have been raised to think everything that glitters is golden, regardless of what Kid Cudi says. :heh:

It's not about how hard the games are now, it's about how easy and quick you can exploit them to their fullest capability. Back then we had codes, nowadays kids know to get killstreaks by using a knife. Everything is set up to allow kids to dominate the games rather than overcoming the difficulty of beating them.

I'm not the biggest Contra fan, but that was a great mix of difficulty and entertainment. Even having the codes didn't make the game a cakewalk. Same with Streets Of Rage 2 or Super Metroid. Hell, even Resident Evil 1 in the 32 bith with saves was not a cakewalk. Now, if a kid can't beat a game RIGHT away, he hates it and his friends hate it. And the game flops. Or if the kid can't get on multiplayer and put up 32/6 K/D within the first few days, then the game "sucks" and not worth the time anymore. I mean, just look how they ruined Mortal Kombat, Mario (I wouldn't touch a damn one of those Mario games on the Wii), and Sonic.

Not saying that there aren't still good games out there, it's just crazy how badly gameplay got substituted for playability.

Good point but this proves my point more. Kids now a days get bored by games way quicker than my generation. We use to play certain games for months. You are 100% correct about "Contra" being hard but yo man the "Contra" series is Classic, meaning the 1st 3. It's hard even with the extra lives. "Super Contra" was hard also was well as "Contra III: Alien Wars" on SNES, that joint was MADDDD Hard. Me and my litter brother use to play that joint with 2 player and we always got f*cked up, lol:

I live in the United States
I wasn't saying there were no difficult games now, I'm saying games back in the day were more harder. You know how long it took dudes to beat Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's punch out, lol.

I beat Tyson in 2days :manny:
Then I remember sending in a picture to Nintendo Power because they had a contest on who could beat it first. I never heard back from them...
That's my point. It seems the programmers back in the day really F*cked with us. A lot of games had mad levels or they were really hard to beat. It's crazy looking back. It was like the stuff of Legend to beat some of the games back in the day. You would brag to your friends at school, lol. But I don't want to 100% sh!t on this era. Being that I lived all the era's it's cool to see Graphics go so far to the point that the game feels really real. Soon we will be at virtual reality gaming where you are literally inside the game. But there was some complexity in the simplicity of the 8 bit/16bit era.
Do you remember those Virtual Reality Headset games they'd have at the malls back then?
Bases Loaded 1 better than any other bases loaded, but RBI 3 is a fukking incredible game. SO. Personal preference is probably Bases Loaded(2 was garbage and I always forget they made a 3), but RBI 3 is a better game.
:myman: I was just seeing. Bases Loaded >>> RBI for me too
But the best baseball game on the NES was Little League Baseball :noah:

What you said is sooo true. NBA2k every single year those same dudes you talking about shyt on it. Then later either they learn how to play it or they leave and the ppl who learn how to play realize how great the game is.
Literally every year most vocal gamers will say how the new version is trash
Thread is bringing me back :ohlawd:

Fired up some SNES games last night, and not to pile on but no one has mentioned

Earthbound
E.V.O.
Killer Instinct
Magical Quest
Donkey Kong Country
Joe and Mac
Pilotwings
Ninja Gaiden Trilogy
Star Fox
Zombies Ate my Neighbors (on Genesis too)

I think us :flabbynsick: 8 and 16 bit gamers win this war easily. Too many classics.
I mentioned Pilotwings :shake: But totally forgot about Joe & Mac.. that was my shyt
Nobody mentioned Super Castlevania IV, Sunset Riders, We said EA but didn't mention NHL 94' or how in Madden the ambulances would run nikkaz over :krs:
Somehow Super Mario Kart hasn't been mentioned (The N64 version is shyt compared to this because N64 made it so you catch up to whoever is in first... SNES version you was getting lapped if you sucked)
Super Tennis
UN Squadron
The helicopter "strike" series like Jungle Strike
Pocky n Rocky
The Lost Vikings
Flashback was Resident evil before resident evil
Donkey Kong Country
Earth Worm Jim
How about Populous :lawd:
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Super Mario RPG
F-Zero
Virtua Racing via the 32-x
Final Fantasy 4
Star Fox

Thats all I can think of off top, but I think I killed this thread :smugdraper:
