I like the Rock and i aint buyin this breh. The only time Austin got booed in favor of the Rock is when Austin went heel mid Mania. Rock was at his highest level at this point and was pushed towards the world title while Austin
pursued HHH for running him down AT SS they year before. Thus, Rock was higher on the card having carried the ball for Austin out of necessity. Not to diminish a damn good run but lets not get cloudy here.

Rock didnt draw until he cut his hair and was mid way in his Nation run. Not his entire career.

That being said i agree with the rest of it.
.

Well...you're wrong first of all. Leading to Survivor Series 99, The Rock would bring up Austin's name to big heat. Then there was that deal when they had the 4 man tag team elimination match where Austin got no reaction and they kept chanting Rocky as if he was who they paid to see. Then the stuff in 2000 during the "who ran over Austin" storyline how everyone from Michaels to anyone you can think of was booed or got silence implying the Rock. Austin and Rock faced off directly at Armageddon 2000 and that crowd chanted Rocky over Austin. Same thing at Royal Rumble 2001. Same thing after the
Undisputed title match annoucement on Raw in Dec 2001.

Rock got booed against Austin at Mania 17 in TX. Hollywood Rock's big moves got louder pops than Austin's at WM 19 as well.

Nobody drew in 1997 from the WWE because the NwO was kicking their ass outright. The Rock has been making huge money since the day he became a maineventer in 1998 leading to Survivor Series. No one has matched that kind of success that fast in the history of pro wrestling. No one ever will. It's just how things worked out. One year he's the top heel..the next he's a icon...the following year pro wrestling is practically living off of his back and presence. Unheard of.

I could argue most of this but when the Rock is involved you dont seem to take criticism well so ill just do this as the definite...

Austin.

Both guys came up in different eras, so it was easier for Hogan to be perceived as someone who stayed on top longer than Austin because there was no RAW, SD, or monthly PPV when Hogan was on top like there was with Austin. That speaks more about Austin to me than it does with Hogan because he was on top for 3 years, practically every week, and the fans (which was a WAY older fanbase compared to Hogan's) never really turned on him.

With Hogan there were pay per views every four months, the occasional SNME appearance, so fans would only see him in small doses and would therefore want to see more.
