If Hoegan wasn't a major star TMZ and the other tabloids wouldn't bother covering him. Austin beat his wife and nobody gave a damn except wrestling fans. If Hoegan beat his wife that would be front page news for at least a week.

) that truly want to be followed around. Hogan craves the attention. He always wants the camera on him, no matter where he is. Austin on the other hand is just sitting back, content with retirement doing his little side projects.And who would seem more approachable to you in public, Hogan or Austin?

The only reason it looks like Austin sold more merch than hogan is because everything Austin related was released by the wwe. Hogan had alot of merch through other avenues.
You also have to realize that by the time Austin came around yes wwf was down, but they were established at that point. Hogan built that company there is no denying that. You don't have to like Hogan but to ignore his run is stupid.
One of the only reasons Vince said Austin sold more than Hogan even if it's true when relating to wwe stuff was out of spite, because he went to TNA. If Hogan was still chopping it with Vince we would have never heard about these sells. He could have said this in 2001,2002 and 2003 and I would have been okay with it.
I understand picking favorites but Hogan is a bigger star and you can't debate that!

Austin is a different type of TX cat though He doesn't have that kind of shyt in him...especially after he blew up. He's kind of crazy about his fans that stuck with him after his mistakes.

Hogan is the bigger name, as he should be considering he's been around way longer than Austin and has maintained publicity with odd antics and whatnot. Yet, Austin's peak >>> your faves. I don't even have to go there when it comes to work-rate or really the overall package.

Austin was great. He was much better in the ring than Hogan and is top 5 without question. I prefer the Hitman, the Rock and Austin over Hogan but NONE of them were bigger stars than Hogan was in his day as far as wrestling is concerned.
This is the biggest fukking lie ever told in wrestling. That the business exist because of Hogan. Wrestling was not in some dark ages before Hogan. WWF was still selling out the garden/baseball stadiums, AWA was drawing in the midwest, Georgia in the south, etc. The only thing Hogan did was make it national. Austin singlehandidly saved a company from bankruptcy and spearheaded the most recognized and profitable period in wrestling ever. Hogan is like Snoop Dogg, he will always have name recognition for the impact he had buts he's a guy who hasn't matter in over 20+ years
