I have known since Royal Rumble 2008 that the WWE fans "hatred" of Cena is a complete farse, it's the "cool" thing to do and it's adults trying to distance themselves from children.

But when you really think about it, I was there yesterday and before the show even started in the rampways the fans were chanting "Cena Sucks"

During the match it was "Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks".

The key here is the fans are never really rooting for the guy Cena is facing, they're so engrossed with the John Cena character that's all they can think about.

It's fairly obvious they don't hate Cena like they claim. That's why we all know if he turned they`d be goo goo over him.

It just gets to the point where you have to say, do you really hate this guy.

You pay all this money and it's 5:45 and you're chanting Cena sucks. You're not chanting Lets go Rocky, or YES! YES! or anyone elses stuff.

You're thinking about Cena at 5:45, it just makes me laugh. This facade of "hatred".

and the pop at the end was because the shyt was finally over, much like that adr/swagger nonsense

No the truth is the fans secretly love this fukking guy.

That's why they want him to turn heel so bad, so they can cheer him.

It`ll always be the cool thing to do because dudes want to differentiate themselves from the children, when in fact if you watch pro wrestling, you want to feel like a kid again anyway

But then they'll boo him for a heel turn that was "obviously needed", long overdue, and fake/forced.

He's in a no win situation but I agree with you; the Cena hate is mostly "well it's the popular thing to do" thing

Yeah they couldn't just be flat out bored of cena altogether

me personally, I don't give a shyt if he's a good guy or a bad guy or a good bad guy or a bad good guy, I'm just sick of his character all together, his lame ass speeches, his shytty stf and all that

on the plus side he's like 35 so he won't be on top much longer just due to wear and tear on his body

Yeah, there was a time when it was grounded in some reality as people actually believed he wasn't a good wrestler.

But that's like ONS vs. Van Damn days.

He has shown and proven time and again he is a good wrestler who engages the whole arena every time he is in a mtch/promo.

At this point it's just silly, obsession based behavior. If you really hate the motherfukker you wouldn't be showing up. You wouldn't dedicate chants to him. They don't cheer his opponents they just boo him. It's obsessive behavior

A good example is how I couldn't stand Jerry Lynn and Kevin Steen as the ROH champions, so I just stopped going.

Yeah but that's not it, because they're supposed smart fans right?

Don't smart fans know the best way to express your sick of something is to say nothing.

There is nothing worse than a quiet crowd,

Bingo, bingo!!!

That Raw match with Punk could possibly have been Cena's best match and it wasn't like he was being carried either; he was putting in WORK. He can wrestle and has had quality matches over the last year when faced with an opponent that isn't dogging it. I use to :rudy: at Cena, but he's :ehh: to me now.

If they didn't turn him heel last night(when they could have ran with the WM X-7 steez and have Cena playing the role of Austin, meaning he'd be so desperate to win, he'd stoop to whatever level to win), it ain't happening. I mean, that's the only thing that could keep his character fresh and still relevant. I don't think it's a facade moreso than people are tired of the same old, same old with this guy. Now if he got nWo level hatred, meaning people throwing trash at him, Cokeboy and Cena would have no choice but to embrace the hate and run with it(even though if they did that, people would start cheering him again, so it's a lose-lose situation as far as Cena goes)

This is why I feel that Cena should not take most of the blame for that awful match last night.

He has shown that he can put on a good match with the right guy. This was not the case yesterday.

Don't think that match was awful at all.

It suffered early from the same formula we've seen in Rock matches since he's returned, but it picked up and they played well of last years match and scouting eachother which injected some REAL suspense into the finish.

Out of the 3 main events it's the only one that actually contained any REAL suspense.

Yeah I definitely saw yesterday being there that these dudes would be lost with no Cena. I boo and do the cena sucks chant but I don't hate him..it's part of the show and the dueling crowd chants were great.
