They always do this. They’ll come to an agreement last minute.
In 2019, the shut down lasted a month…we missed two paychecks.

Got back pay, but the people that mismanage their finances and were living paycheck to paycheck even tho they make 110k+ had to get loans, food banks, etc

I think a difference this time is the MAGA divide.

Democrats don't have a leg to stand on in this budget fight. Billions in more aid to Ukraine and open borders are losing issues polling wise.

That's why they are trying to pack all this funding in one huge Bill. They want to protect Republicans who can't afford to vote on record.
You sound like a idiot

Coli posters keep forgetting that the average American and people most affected by the government shutdown couldn't care less whose fault it is considering that both parties are still going to get paid during it regardless.

Save the fight for some of that shyt till another day.
The GOP is fighting themselves they could pass a bill in the house but they want to also strip all entitlements and safety nets from people to hurt them

I'm well aware of that, but again both parties are still going to get paid during the shutdown and 99.99% of them are going to be reluctant to give up their pay in solidarity with their consistutents.

The obvious solution is to strip them of their pay and benefits during government shutdowns, but why would they willingly take power and perks away from themselves?

This isn't gonna happen cause the economy is held together by a shoestring at this point and they all know it. The coverage for the shutdown is so low compared to other shutdowns because it's too obvious.

Exactly. They'll lose interest in grandstanding if nobody is paying attention to their tantrums. Probably go a week or two and they'll pay themselves on the back for passing something they could've done months ago. The use the shutdown mess to campaign for donations.
