I disagree. I say that the reason scoring has dipped compared to 20 years ago is because offenses were better back then, not because defenses are better now. Not only are there few real centers in the league today, there's no hand checking. The game was also more physical back then compared to now. Nope. They barely called more fouls back then and really the margin should be wider seeing as how they actually had real centers and power forwards that played in the post. The game was a lot more physical back then. You breathe on these cats nowadays and its a foul. Normal every-game routine "hard fouls" from back in the day are flagrant fouls now. The fact is that the game was faster back then, that's not an opinion. They averaged more possessions per game, took more shots, and shot at a higher percentage.

Physical doesn't=better, and defensive rotations are far better today than then.

I didn't say physical=better. Don't bother quoting me unless you're going to address what I've actually said. And just for the record, there isn't a team in the league that plays defense better than those Bulls teams. Which team today "rotates" better on defense than they did?

Of course they would..the 1992 dream team is in their 40s and 50s now

But seriously..would Chandler play 48 mins? When he's subbed out who's covering Ewing Robinson?

:laff: at Blake/love covering Barkley/Malone

Obviously Bron is buggin but if asked, what do you expect him to say? Any and every athlete thinks they are better than another team/player...thats how they got to the level they're at.

Other than that.....:childplease:

Sabonis was already past his prime in '92. I'd take the Gasols and Ibaka over those three (circa '92).

He was past his prime his entire nba career. he still beasted harder than anyone euro playing today.

Plus pippen is the one the greatest wing defenders of all time him covering lebron or old kobe = one of them not having a big night scoring plus alot of turnovers.

You're alluding to that defenses were more effective at least back them (more physical, handchecking), than now, which would be entirely false. Like you can't comprehend that offenses had more points, possessions due solely to skill, and not less effective team defenses.

yall acting like there wasn't nba players back in 92 on the other teams. Sabonis, Vlade Divac, Toni Kukoc > Varejao and Nene. They struggled against these d list bigs today. what would they do against the 92 bigs

Thank you. Dont forget drazen petrovic who won silver with kukoc.

Sabonis was not past his prime in 92..he was still 27-28 then.

No, I was explaining why there were more fouls called back then compared to today.

As far as what you're trying to argue, you're still wrong. Defenses aren't better now than they were 20 years ago. Just exause you say something doesn't make it true. Where's your case for saying that defenses are better today? There are only a handful of legit centers and power forwards who guard the paint in today's game, and you can't guard perimeter guys like you could 20 years ago. Who are the best defensive teams in the league today? How are they better than the best defensive teams from 20 years ago? Those early 90's Bulls teams are better than any current NBA team defensively.

In 1990 .8% of players in the NBA were European. In 2009, 11%. (just so you can see the disparity)

Please don't talk like they were playing against tons of NBA players back then. They were playing professionals, yes, but not NBA players. Players on the opposing team were just happy to play - they asked for pictures and autographs of the Dream Team during pregame because they were starstruck. Rubio isn't asking anyone on this team for a damn autograph, he's jawin' with Kobe.
