Honestly though I don't see what doubling would do. He made like 3 threes well beyond the range where any double would touch him. When the doubled him near the line he found the open guy. Malik Monk shooting 40% from 3pt this year, it's not like you want him taking open shots on you. And when they collapsed on Bron inside he repeatedly just scored anyway.

If 2% lower than Kobe at the distances they actually shoot is "some of the worst in NBA history", then how bad are Kobe's #'s?

That 10-16 foot shot is the worst to take for almost anyone other than a tall big who can set up and shoot over guys easily from there. It has all the negatives of having to drive into the defense (potential turnover, potential block, clogging up lane) and none of the advantages of getting a higher % shot or spreading the floor. There's a reason Bron took less than 10% of his shots from there while Kobe took almost twice as many. Taking all those close midrange but only making 43% of them hurt his team.

From every other distance, Bron's %'s are almost the same or superior to Kobe. And the differences where he has the advantage are larger - Bron is 10% better at the basket which is the highest % shot and 2% better from 3pt which is a bigger gap cause they take more and those are worth more.

If you think 35% and 33% are nearly identical, then you'd also say that Bron's %'s from midrange are nearly identical to Kobe as well. And that destroys the argument that Kobe is a vastly superior midrange shooter.

Kobe isn't a chucker because he shoots 2% worse than LeBron from 3pt, Kobe is a chucker because he takes a ton of ill-advised, low-% shots when he should be feeding his elite teammates.

In 2002 Kobe was matched with prime Shaq and shooters yet still took 20 shots a game
In 2001 Kobe had those same teammates and took 22 shots a game
In 2003 Kobe had prime Shaq, Horry, Fisher, Fox, George.....yet he took TWENTY-FOUR shots a game
Same shyt happened 2008-2013 - Kobe took 20-23 shots every single year while Pau just got 12-13 shots

And they weren't just any shots. Kobe takes the greatest # of shots from midrange where he's least effective. Shoots just 40% from 16-23 and they're only worth 2, but he takes 27% of his shots from there. Shoots just 43% from 10-16 and takes another 17% of this shots from there. And with all those elite teammates (and never really having a PG on the team either), he still couldn't average over 6 assists/game even once in his career.

Taking nearly 10 shots a game from that inefficient 41% clip range when he could be feeding elite bigs and 3pt shooters instead is what makes him a chucker.


Compare that to Bron - every season from 2011-2021, when Bron had even one elite teammate, he never took 20 shots/game in any season. And the shots he did take were leaning into the highest-efficiency ones, the ones that help his team the most, rather than chucking up 40% two-pointers. Meanwhile he's averaging 7-8-9 assists/game every year setting up his teammates for high-% shots and open threes.

Get the ball out his hands. Lebron is usually not a good 3pt shooter, but he was cooking early that game. Let Westbrook or monk beat you. they didnt double until the last minute of the 4th quarter. by that time the damage was done. Credit to LeBron for taking full advantage. I'm just tired of the dumbass warriors decision-making in late-game situations. If the game is close for the Warriors, they will most likely lose. Monk's shooting has been inconsistent. And the warriors have been doing dumb shyt like that all season. Not to mention we dont defend smart at all. Carmelo got that corner 3 to ice the game bc JTA helped off the strong side corner shooter (Carmelo). He did it earlier that quarter with Avery Bradley, but Bradley missed the shot. Klay's defense was awful all game, and he fouled austin reeves on a 3pt made shot. Not to mention we got outworked all game. Lakers got too many 2nd chances that ended up as made baskets. I’ve never understood why teams go and double him. Not even bringing his jumpshot into it, he’s one of, if not the best court vision guys to ever play. He wants teams to double him for that reason.
