They gave input and outside review on ND’s progress since they are the kings of GAAS shooters. They told Sony that ND model was not gonna work so it’s been limbo ever since then

Wasn't the issue with microsoft that they couldn't work on anything aside from halo? And the terms of the sony deal was that Bungie would self publish their own games with no interference from Sony?

Sony got them helping and overseeing their first party exclusives GAAS titles and also creating their own. They didnt sign up for that shyt.

they signed up for it because it allowed them to immediately lean on sony ie's resources to set up bungie creative studios or whatever its called. bungie isn't trying to 'just' do games anymore and the two way street sony offered them was the quickest way to it.
shyt. the first thing they did after linking up with sony was start poaching the leads from riot who setup arcane and valorant
how much work do you think it actually took for joe blackburn to lean over on TLOU2's struggling multiplayer framework and say "shyt is mid b" before greenlighting a single pvp map in destiny 2 after a whole year lmao
