Still remember 1L year when a prof asked a student what a word in a case meant, and student said she didn't know. Prof then asked, "So you didn't think it was important enough to your client to look up a word you didn't know while reviewing a case? Sounds like a bad lawyer to me!"

She then picks up the big ass Black's Law Dictionary from under her podium, walks up to where the student is, and SLAMS it down right in front of her.

"Look up the word and tell us what it means! And never come to my class unprepared again!"

Happy to see brehs in law school and increasing our presence in the legal sector...I deferred my school offers 5 years ago to pursue what I thought was a good opportunity at the time...just now making peace with that. :snoop:
Keep going and bring home the JD.

A professor had better not done that to me. I wouldn't give a fukk. Some professors try to enforce this "scare tactic" shyt to 1Ls that always cracked me up.

Prepare for class brehs
Man that really matters I guess to establish good relationships with professors so that you can rely on them for recommendation letters and connections for jobs maybe. But your grade is based on that final exam, answering cold called questions and briefing every case assigned doesn't get you better grades unless that's the best way for you to prepare your outline for the final.

how we doing 1L brehs?

im in a cac dominated tier 1 school with only like 15 black people so it definitely feels alienating but I'm pulling through

looking to get a paid 1L through a diversity program this summer, anyone have any recommendations?
Some cities have a diversity job fair, definitely look into those. Also, the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) has a summer diversity program in many cities. You get to work in house at a selected corporation. Did it my first year summer and it was good working in house and getting paid.

My school has a strong black law organization and diverse faculty so I haven't had any issues so far

I'm good (so far). Have a solid crew in a mostly female section (:shaq:)

Active member of the black law students society. Volunteering for a law-based NGO too.

Contracts is the only class I'm shook about but the mid-term and exam are open book so

Contracts is basically all about the big three (offer, acceptance, consideration), mixed in with the contract defenses (which we didn't even get to that much until the second semester Contracts II class at my school actually). And if you're confused now, wait until you get to UCC 2-207. :shaq: It's way more confusing than it needs to be, but once you get it, it's like :ohhh:
