Nike didn't start poppin until they drafted cheese eyes....this was 20 YEARS after the company was founded.

Nobody is untouchable.

13 years but I'll let you cook :popcorn3:

I'm old enough to remember Adidas was running shyt until the late 80s. Converse was bossing in basketball for over a decade (Dr J, Magic, Bird) before :mjpls: 's kicks took a mind of their own.

Nike was a running shoe company for the most part and they only just became relevant in basketball because of Sonny Vaccaro convinced them to pay Big East Coaches in exchange for their teams to sport the swoosh.

Raveling would've been NOTHING without Vaccaro and LaVar knows that.

It was in 1964. They changed the name to Nike in 1971. And yes I'm :flabbynsick: too.

Wrong again breh. Phil was with Onisuka Tiger (Asics) at that time. Plus he just graduated from UofO in '64.Blue Ribbon Sports came along in 1968 when Knight began to distance himself from Onisuka beginning with his small Portland Office . BRS was the name he had to give his business for tax purposes .This was also after Onisuka was moving forward with a different US Sales rep with little explanation.

Nike came along in 1971 after Onisuka cut off Knight 's shoe supply from Japan . So with the foreign and domestic connections Knight had, Phil started selling shoes for himself.

Still don't agree? Phil Knight 's memoir , Shoe Dog is pretty much the story of this. Great read BTW.

Nah...I'm talking shoe company. That's what has Nike scared. What if the next great NBA star refuses to sign with a shoe company and starts his own shyt as a rookie?

Because these dudes are 19-year-old basketball players, not entrepreneurs trying to run a business from scratch:mjlol:

You really think when you can sign a $20 mil guaranteed contract like Ben Simmons just did with Nike, that any kid is gonna be like nah fukk that, lemme go start my own company, and while I'm trying to make it in the NBA as a rookie I'll also have to worry about how to promote my company, hire factory workers and other staff, shoe design, development, customer acquisition, marketing, inventory, how to scale it, how to find investors, etc.

Now you could say, well of course he won't do it himself, he'll hire someone else. But WHO? How does a 19-year-old know who to hire to put in charge of a company that is supposedly going to compete with Nike?

Some of ya'll really don't THINK for shyt before you hit that submit button :gucci:

I'm just going by Wikipedia b. :yeshrug:

Point is that Nike didn't become who they are now overnight. Gotta start somewhere.

I cannot really believe some of you DUMB ASS nikkas in here think Nike is SCARED of this dude and his bummy ass clothing line. :gucci:

The "worst thing in 100 years" line is harsh, but he really is BAD for this. Ya'll can try to big up a dude pushing his own shyt, but if he was real serious about it then he would actually be serious about it.

But he's not.. BBB is already a joke and a meme, look no further than this thread. So it's hard for me to really have any support for this dude taking on the big corporation when he's already turned himself into a joke, and hurt his son in the process.

How DUMB would you have to be to have your own son pass up a multi-million dollar contract to wear some trash that will no doubt look like K-SWISS joints :scust:
