Meaning your face is on every website, billboard, tv commercial, movie, etc as well as overseas tours, events, camps etc. This raises your profile globally, which allows you to secure other deals in other markets making even more money, because Nike helped make you super famous. They put you on a wall next to Lebron and Serena Williams, whose star power lit your star power.
People are so focused on the vanity of having BBB plastered on generic items that they arent seeing that this kid is going to lose major money. I mean I dont think anyone thinks this kid is going to be the next Kobe, and Kobe had a commercial with Serena, Kanye, Tony Robbins and about 10 other global celebs that made his personal brand even larger than life. Thats what these companies can give you, and you dont have to pay for it.

But it would hurt their earnings compared to previous quarters. Publicly traded companies are slaves to delivering for shareholders. Anything that negatively affects their growth trajectory would have them shook.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with @calh45. Star power is just one piece of the puzzle. There are a lot of other issues they'll have to deal with (mfg costs, marketing, distribution, etc). They could be successful, but a big name alone is no guarantee. And there's no way they're more profitable than Nike in the beginning as Nike has all the other stuff in place. So I'm a bit surprised by Nike's exec's comments.
