So even if Lavar fails that will serve as vital lessons for the next set of hustlers trying to establish their own imprint. Nothing fake about ownership and settin up shop

If your want to own something the goal is to succeed so set yourself up in the best way possible to do so. Why the hell would you set yourself up for failure to be a lesson of what not to do?

Nobody is arguing against ownership. We're arguing against Lavar Ball's strategy or lack there of.

LeBron's Nike deal could be worth 1 billion.

MJ has Jordan brand and is the lone black team owner.

Tiger made a fortune off Nike.

Curry gets 32 million a year of UA.

Every athlete in the league not playing for Charlotte works for rich white men. They all have wealth to pass down to their children all from making sound business decisions. BBB is not a sound move. Lonzo Ball is not a star like LeBron was coming out of high school. His brothers are still in high school and can't sell or market shyt. Use common sense and stop with the fake black empowerment angle.
I said what I said..

I love how people will give advice under the guise of caring about somebody's welfare and career. Between you and his father, I would bet his father cares more about his career than you. And beyond that, he cares that his son has a check after he stops entertaining you on NBA on TNT every Thursday night.

Yea, I know about Marbury and Shaq. They made money.

They might not have been the favorite shoe of the masses, but they made money.

They might have been sold in foreign countries moreso than the US, but they made money.

They might have even been sold in Wal-Mart, but guess what? They made money.

And how is doing something for yourself wrong? How is trying to be the owner wrong? How is not taking a dikk up the ass wrong?

Bro, you don't help blacks by cheerleading black people to keep letting everyone else be the owners while you hope to get a paycheck for using your celebrity. Think about how many millions these athletes get paid to be brand ambassadors. Now, think about how many millions or billions the owners must have in order to pay those athletes those millions in contracts.

I'm not saying don't leverage OPM, but they have more than enough startup capital if every star player invested a very small piece of their wealth into getting started with market research, product design and getting the proper leadership in place. While fishing for investors and venture capital for bring the product to market.

Peace

If you read what I wrote I wasn't attacking the idea. I was attacking the execution and the #blackexcellence blind ass cheerleading that happens on this site. I'm all for folks building a company for themselves. I've done that for myself and help folks on the side with a bit of consulting on how to do it. That's how I'm helping out the folks. There is a process to building out an idea. It ain't just about throwing a concept out there and screaming you're going to earn billions or going on TV shows to say outlandish shyt for attention. Behind all of that needs to be structure in order to bring all of that to reality in a way that allows his son to have a check after he's done with the NBA otherwise it's just throwing money down a pit. Bron is the perfect example of how to use their resources in a way that benefits him and his family then creating something on his own. Maverick was interning at Nike to learn what goes on behind the scenes. Once he was ready they starting taking over. Rich Paul is snagging free agents right and left for Bron's agency after he worked under Leon Rose. He didn't just claim he was gone take shyt over and own everything. He and his friends understood they needed to learn the backend. You mention market research and product design which means I know you understand what I'm saying and I bet you that LaVar doesn't. How he's going about all of this is terrible, but I hope it does work out because I'd hate to see it become a 30 for 30.

This "brother" is coming off like the typical black exec in a huge company. Doesn't want any other blacks around to rock the boat and mess up the good ride he has going.

He's cool with the custodians but anyone who looks like a threat it's automatic hate.

You got it misconstrued. My concern is my people..Either Lavar gets it poppin or someone else comes along who will build on his ideas. For all we know Lavar has built this personality and he's super thought out in what he's doing behind closed doors. mistakes will be made no matter how good your plan is. Time for the brothas to take risk and figure out the way to win just like the others who have done it

The irony that Phil Knight wanted to buy The Clippers in the early 80s but Sterling got in the way. What could've been:wow:

THIS!!!! I'm a big Nike fan but fukk this guy :pacspit: Biggest hypocrite in the business. Him and Sonny Vacarro used to be best of friends . Check this out for more research

What is it about this guy? Google didn't give me anything noteworthy

Yeah but people keep getting defensive and thinking people are anti-entrepreneurship.He comes off like a know it all who never actually did anything. When you look at the stories of the millionaires who went broke, a lot of them invested a lot of money in people like Lavar, ambitious and talking a big game but hadn't actually done anything in all of their years.

Hopefully he is either bluffing to drive up Lonzos price or he has done a lot more research than he sounds like he has because he talks like a guy who thinks he can just walk into a new industry without knowledge or experience and be successful.

These shoe deals literally give these players money for nothing. Its the easiest money they'll ever make. What if Blake Griffins dad told Blake not to work with Kia because he wanted to make his own car. Or Russell Westbrook's dad saying he wanted to make his own soda.
