Yea outside of the opening apartment scene I think Fish would killed every scene just as well as Sam if not better.
Y'all are tripping. Larry is a damn good actor but Sam was born to play that role. Everything about his delivery ("hmmm..that is a tasty burger", "Say what again! I double dare you motherfukker!" "Oh you sending in the Wolf? Damn negro thats all you had to say!" )and his presence is A plus. Larry is very stoic and fits morpheous so well. Larry would've made a better Mace Windu.

Sam was amazing, but lets not act like Fish didn't have range.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Plus Wild Wild West was going to be directed by Barry Sonnenfield, who had just directed Will in Men in Black, which was a massive hit. And he was going to be starring with Oscar winner Kevin Kline and acclaimed actor/director Kenneth Branagh and prime Salma Hayek. Wild Wild West also had tons of merchandising licenses. I still have a pair of WWW sunglasses that I got from Burger King. And maybe the movie sounded good on paper. Who knows? The final product was :trash: though.

I'd just like to follow up this response with this video of Bruce Campbell (in hilarious fashion) how they pitched Congo to him:

The pitch of a film is always key.
