Maverick is dope. As is 3 amigos. And back to the future 3. Your slander right now:ufdup:

But Maverick is just a big screen version of the tv show. A con man in the west. It's really hard to mess that up on any level as long as you cast it right. And they did. Plus had Richard Donner directing when he was still Richard Donner.

Marverick is underrated af.

I rather be Morpheus then Jules
SLJ literally got 200 roles off the strength of Jules and is probably worth 10-20x what Fishburne is worth. It was a bad decision no matter how you slice it.

I think Sam got in where he fit in, but I can see Laurence in the role, if I think about it.

He has the stoic 'post revelation' vibe from the diner scene down, and I'm sure he could pulloff the unpredictable intensity from the apartment too.

They both did well for themselves afterwards.

Sidenote: I wonder if they ever thought about a show based on Jules walking the Earth, on some Caine from Kung Fu shyt, like he plans to do after they go see Marsellus. :leon:Call it 'The Path Of The Righteous Man'. And he goes by the name 'Shepherd' instead of Jules.

It's the sort of thing they'd probably greenlight without a second thought if the film came out these days, but I'd be curious to know if anyone ever pitched it back then. :jbhmm:

The Matrix really saved him from that being a career ruining decision. Glad it worked out for both brehs, both of whom are great actors.

I’m not sure Smith playing Neo works. Neo was a great role for Reeves because of the muted personality Neo has. Smith has too much personality for that role. Smith works best in roles his charm and charisma can shine through. Also without Fishburne as Morpheus the Matrix is trash.

you are saying that after the fact neo has no personality because Keanu reeves doesn’t have one no difference in neo than his character in speed or Johnny Nemonic

the movie would have been different with smith and Val Kilmer could easily pull off Morpheus people are just too use to the movies now to see anything different

the matrix is a metaphor for black people being the true Israelites with will in the role it would be more clear
But you still see when they go to Zion it is majority black

If Sam Jackson coudnt do it then Eddie Murphy next on the wish list.

Denzel was an option for the Travolta/Vincent role.

Charles Dutton got a lot of consideration for a lot of roles. Even saw N'Bussie Wright :ehh: Although its tough to not see Sam Jackson and Ving Rhames in those roles.
