What bothers/worries me the most are two things
One it sounds like from what people around the league are saying that the Knicks front office didn’t do it’s due dilligence in trying to let teams know KP was available to get a bidding war for him. It sounds more like an ego thing where KP made demands and the front office then wanted him out of here as soon as possible. You can’t tell me DSJ was the best asset you could get for Porzingis. Why were they in such a rush?
The thing that worries me is this type of trade can get a gm and front office fired if the Knicks strikeout on the big name free agents. I could see the front office panicking and signing second and third tier guys just out of fear of bad PR and losing their job if they end up striking out on the big names this summer

I see some media pundits trying to spin a good deal. they want you to believe the deal was Dennis Smith for KP, when it's much more. We got 2 1st rounders (one unprotected) all our bad contracts off the books for two expiring deals and DSjr. All for a currently injured player that has a contract due themselves.
No other team would offer that and we know this. This deal is basically a heist.
tank might be in jeopardy if DJ isn't bought out.

Why would you ever take Knicks management/owner side?
They’ve thrown everyone under the bus on the way out. They had Woj deliver that smear campaign tweet right before they pulled the trigger on the trade.
They deserve no benefit of the doubt.

in all likelihood thats the best we could have done, and frankly its a good spot for him to go to anyway.

Even if nobody notable came to the Knicks in free agency we can still stay the course and have that same cap space again the following season. None of the youth got moved in this deal. Yeah it was a heist.
