You have to admit that KD coming here becomes more possible if he knows he’d be teaming up with AD and KP.

That is basically an all unicorn front court.

You and I can handle the backcourt at that point

:russ:

LOL we'd still at least need a competent point to ensure all are well fed

I doubt the Pelicans would take Kristaps for AD, since his chances of re-signing there would be slim to none, but I have to believe a package around our 1st round draft pick this year could get it done...

Mills and Perry better get on that phone.

An AD, KP, KD front court?

:merchant:
It would be Hardaway, 1st round pick from this year & 2022, Kanter, Kevin Knox.

The pelicans would basically be able to potentially have Zion, Knox & another pick PLUS being able to see if Hardaway is real & give Kanter an opportunity to potentially ball out to his content.

Guys, i KNOW AD is a pipe dream, but the fact that we are a legitimate threat to land him, with the likes of LA and Boston, with actual packages that can beat those potential packages and still leave us in a solid position to compete afterwards (still have some rotational players left and become even more enticing in free agency) is a very big deal that we need to take a step back and appreciate.

No player in this draft projects to be as good as Anthony Davis is right now

But honestly a part of me just wants a home grown rebuild

I know exactly what you are saying, and also wish we drafted our own superstars instead of having to always rely on other teams to do it for us. But yeah, AD might be one of the very few exceptions...because he’s that good.

Also, another part of me is so pessimistic when it comes to the Knicks that I can’t envision us getting lucky enough to get the #1 overall, so I’m like fukk it, trade the pick now!

Even if y'all get Zion it's gonna take a while to mentally undo this season

Thought about this today and I don't know. Philly was tanking more blatantly and for a long period, ruined more young players and seemed to have rebounded. If we fall part next season and in the same position, then I'm worried. A Zion, healthy KP and these young guys with a year or two of experience under their belt could change the energy.

Tanking and getting assets was needed at some point.

At this point, more worried about Fiz's coaching of Robinson, Knox, Trier, and Frank than the culture at this juncture.

-------------------------
Knox and Zion if we got him would be hard to let go but who knows how big our window is with KP. AD might entice another star versus waiting 2-3 years for Knox and Zion.

Ideal world, we don't make the trade and have flexibility in the next 2 years.

The Knicks can make a better offer than most teams, that's for sure; this years draft pick is like a golden ticket. Plus Davis has room to leverage where he wants to go just by saying where he will and won't resign at. The Knicks actually have a shot at landing AD, but the front office better not gut all of the young talent on the team to get him.

They get this year's pick and a future pick. Im not giving up BOTH knox and zion for AD. I would trade Porzingis though but thats not happening.

We need to collude with KD to make sure he's coming if we gove up this pick. Otherwise dont bother

What happens to our cap space? If we have KP/AD and max space, I gotta think we're landing somebody. If that's the prospect then it becomes a lot harder to turn down the opportunity...but It's worth adding that stars on the trading block seems more common these days be it because they demand a trade (Butler, Griffin, AD) or a team shifts to a rebuild (Conley, Wall, Gasol). If we don't land AD, we can easily continue to load up on assets and the next star that makes sense and is available will be one we have even more assets and depth to work with. AD though is top 5 to me and that's a lot more rare...I really can't figure out what I want with this. It prolly comes down to how much NO demands.
