Gordon Hayward was one of the picks we sent out for the Melo trade

:francis:

Dario Saric and Jamal Murray were the Nuggets first round picks. Hayward trade's a result of the Marbury trade, but you got some dumb fans in here still devalue the importance of first round picks in terms of team building. :hubie:

Disagree

Wrong. He'll have an advantage over other small ball 5s due to his athleticism and speed, that advantage becomes mitigated if you're asking him to chase around smaller, quicker 2s on the outside.....Id want him closer to the basket defensively to take advantage of his out of this world leaping ability, not sidesteppin on the perimeter tryin to keep up with the lateral foot speed of NBA 2guards. Its abt as ridiculous as asking KP to check SFs :russ:Now that's some laughable shyt :mjlol::bryan:

Yea against small ball 5s I agree and that’s my whole point

Nba is positionless

Knicks will have so many options with Zion
Depending on what team they face he can play anything from 2-5

However I would rather take my chances with Zion guarding a shooting guard who will almost guaranteed be smaller than him than a 7 footer with length inside

At the end of the day Zion is still only 6’7 I don’t care how athletic he is that’s gonna be a miss match against someone like Anthony Davis or any center that can shoot and finish above the rim

Zion ain’t the only freak athlete out there

But with his foot speed and explosiveness he can stay in front of any 2 Guard

Everyone’s putting too much emphasis on weight like Zion isn’t still incredibly fast and he’s blocking their shots with his height and length

My main point overall, knicks gotta draft him and not go for Barrett or someone like Tyler Herro or Romeo Langford :yeshrug:

Yeah we just gunna have to agree to disagree on Zion playing the 2
Just dont see it. Doesn't mean he still isn't versatile, both offensively and positionally

Once again my fellow Zion fans yall jumpin the gun. The 2019 NBA draft is still a long way off. Nothing wrong with having Zion at the top of your list, that's all well and good, having him be the only guy on your list is a good way to set yourself up for draft day disappointment if Zion is no longer available when we select or if we go in another direction with Zion still on the board. Even if we pick someone else really good, you'll still feel letdown on draft night and maybe even a bit thereafter b/c you had all your hopes attached to one prospect. Dont get tunnel vision, keep an open mind. Even if this is a supposedly weak draft overall, top half looks pretty strong. We'll have plenty of good choices available when we pick next draft (Im expecting top 5/no later than 7th), dont shortchange yourself pining after one guy

I’m just hoping knicks don’t make any stupid trades this season.

I can see a frustrated butler demanding a trade come deadline, especially if they are not in playoff contention.

Hopefully the knicks don’t panick and trade everyone and ruining a chance of us getting top 3 pick.

Yea I definitely don’t wanna jump the gun. The hype is at an all time high so I’m not saying he’s THE guy but he’s not the player everyone in this forum was hating only a week ago when his weight came out.

Knicks are in a good position no matter what. I feel like this will be their last season being bad for a long time

The nba rewarding knicks with a top draft pick is overdue so zion or not the next years draft is looking nice

They definitely will have options Zion being one of them

Just keep Butler away from the team.

This is such a damn double edge sword breh.

On one hand, he’s injury prone and playing for tom doesn’t look to bright in his future. And I don’t wanna lock a max contract with him

But on the other hand, he’s still young and if he’s healthy and pair him with a healthy KP, knox, zion or RJ and possibly adding Kyrie to the team. That looks like a championship contender.

But doesn’t he need the ball to operate? So it takes away from our growing point guards and if we get Kyrie he’s gonna be the main handler. My main thing is I don’t like dude’s personality from what I’ve seen, rather keep that energy away from the team.

Yea, I agree. Just because someone is good, doesn't mean they're good for the team. It's all about chemistry and that's where I want my knicks to go. I don't care if we get a top player in the league as long as we develop the way golden state started first. Then a high caliber humbled player could fit into the rotation. None of their picks were top 5 and look where they're at right now.

Edit: Sort of reminiscent of when we had Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph, Wilson Chandler and had games where we nearly broke a record for most 3s. I miss those days. Brb.

I completely agree. I don’t like his “leadership” if you can even call it that. You can’t go around continuously putting down the young players on your team. That’s not a good look.

I’ll probably get crucified for this but I’d gladly trade frank/a protected first rounder for Butler and then sign Kyrie as a free agent.

Kyrie
Butler
Knox
Zion
KP

That’s a team if healthy is better than sixers and possibly celtics if they stay intact

With that team, they might be ready to compete against the warriors, I’m not saying they’ll beat them but 2-3yrs from now those warriors probably won’t be the same with age, injuries and possibly no draymond
