The idea as I've seen it has been that the Knicks would use up the cap space (typically the model if KD and Kyrie) and then try to bring back DJ on the Exception (not sure if LLE or MLE since we start the offseason with capspace but would have spent it). The problem I see is that DJ and most other options are worth more than an exception, but the Morris bros reputations makes me think there may be a shot with the MLE. Regardless we'd be looking at Ring Chasers in the Exception mode because we won't be able to offer much.

We would only have the 5 mil Room exception and the only reason Morris might take that is he’s considered a problem player, has ring chased before, and he’s basically making that now. It would likely be a 2/10 deal with the second year a player option. We would have the 10 mil MLE next year so they could sign him to a 2/20 deal with that if it works out or he could get more money from someone else.
Even trading a young player for space doesn’t help because you cannot combine an exception to cap space. So either Marcus is plan B, or they are trying to get him to ring chase.

We get rid of Knox, Zo, Dotson and gut a team full of potential for AD and I'm outta here. Melo situation all over again. I'm so high on Knox being a star, I'm that delusional. I'd love to see him work with KD and I'm delusional enough to believe he will be a top 10 forward in the next 5 years. I don't think the Knicks front office is incompetent enough to listen to some of it's wrong fans and create an error.
If Knox went to NO to play with Zion, I have no doubt that team will be top 5 in the west in 2 years.

How when Zion is a 4? Knox is a 3. He's been playing 4 on the Knicks cause we have no 4s on the team besides Vonleh. That's why we need to trade in our 3 for the 8 and 10 and get another 4 then pick up a cheap 4 in the draft instead of AD then get KD and Kyrie.
If KDs sending the signal to make the play for AD, you do it. Point blank period, and that's the only scenario where the team is making the AD play.
Doesn't matter who you give up when it's what ensures an all-time player like KD in his prime is coming to play for you.

If KD is demanding AD at the cost of not having any backup, you go for Kawhi and Kyrie. AD will be a free agent next year and then you have AD, Kyrie and Kawhi as well as Mitch and Knox, automatic ring plus your picks for 2021 and 2023.

Barrett at 6'7 will play the 2. Knox will play 3 behind KD. Mario Hezonja is who I would trade in a package with Frank for a 4.
Melo situation all over again? KD and AD and probably Kyrie is 10x better then Melo and a damaged goods Amare I don’t see how it’s comparable at all.
As far as Knox being a star? You might be the only person alive who saw star potential last year.

I dunno how they're gonna run the point guard system but Barrett at 2 behind Jrue and Knox at 3 with Zion at 4 will be a tight team. Barrett can be transitional tbh but that team will be set with a few more pieces either way.
