No offense that is a bad idea tbh . If the KNICKS think Barrett is a player worthy of drafting at 3 as In he’s a star level player then take him at 3 . Again in your scenario the Knicks are drafting him at 3 while hoping to get the 8 and 10 pick BUT there a bunch of picks in between so it’s no possible way they can guarantee that they player they want is there. I get people wanting assets but this team needs stars we’ve shown we can draft the supplemental pieces . We need top line talent now . And I’m not comfortable with these suggestions especially with the new system. Also they rumored Knicks would trade the pick before the lottery even began so I’m skeptical . Whatever happens I’m giving the FO the benefit of the doubt . However I’ve yet to read any trade scenario that I’m Like yes do that

None taken. You draft him at 3 but you see what else is out there. Using words like hope make it seem like desperation when it’s just good strategy. If you think Cam or Culver or Hunter or Little aren’t that far off from Barrett and they’re available at 8, instead of scrambling at the last minute to make a deal out of desperation, you know you already have a framework you discussed lined up. Or, if nothing you like is available you stay with what you have, which is a good pick.

He is a head case so he may not get the money his skill set deserves.

:yeshrug:

He also makes sense if they trade for AD and match him with one star. He’s making $5 mil now and we’re going to have that in the room exception.

Random thought, but I can't see us able to bring back DJ and land a Morris. I do see us working out some second round prospect bigs though. I wonder if they'll target a stretch PF for the MLE, try to bring back Kornet cheap and then draft a third C (although my pick for a big man in the second would be more of a Forward in Jalen McDaniels).

Scouting Jalen McDaniels, Combo Big Sleeper - The Stepien

I don’t know if DJ is the plan. Like right now a mix of Mitch, Kornet, and a big looking to get ahead (aka KOQ, or some other underpaid guy) might be able to hold it down by committee. Mitch needs to learn to last more minutes due to foul issues more than anything. The only way that happens is he gets more minutes.

On the flip, in the KD+Kyrie and Keep the Youth scenario there isn’t a starting PF on the roster besides Knox/KD and neither of those guys are built for banging in the paint.

Anyway we don’t HAVE to sell the farm for AD? (Basically keeping Mitch)?

If you use the MLE, you forfeit any available use of cap space
