Again this is nothing like the Celtics they went from 1-3 knowing they wanted Tatum and the sixers wanted fultz and lonzo was gojng to LA and therefore for a fact that Tatum would be there ( especially since they were thought to take Jackson . I understand the ideas your saying but there is zero actual scenarios that make sense in training our pick we’d be trading down much further and have no guarantee of anything . Even if Chicago or PHX offered us a gang of picks with the new system it’s a crap shoot . We need to Just take the best player

You keep saying the Celtics scenario is different when it’s not at all. I guess you’re just hung up on the distance but it comes down to whether your trust this front offices scouting and instincts. According to you, the Celtics should have just taken Tatum at 1 and been done with it? Or should they have taken Fultz since EVERYBODY said he was the best player in the draft. If the knicks don’t love Barrett, and don’t think he’s as good or that much better than a guy that they bcan get at 8 then trading down to acquire more assets is what you’re supposed to do.

Not realistic at all, but how funny would it be if the Knicks dealt DSJ for 6 and we wound up with Barrett and Cam both :pachaha:

Honestly Knicks could do it..... DSJ’s contract isn’t problematic like Conley’s would be and he would fit their youth movement.

I am thinking CP3 and Tucker for #6, Johnson and Warren

Or Johnson and 6 for Conley and use their cap space for Millsap

The best might be #6 and Johnson for Teague and #11

Teague would be a nice get for the Suns. The other two contracts are massive so I'd be nervous about them but it does feel like this is the time for the Suns to strike (also the timeline for the players dealt vs current roster). Booker's increase is gonna kick in and if they can ship out Johnson's shorter length contract to eat one of those biggies. Honestly, I feel like if the Suns don't like what's in the draft then maybe Ricky Rubio should be a consideration.

Did you read my post ! They knew for a almost certainty they were getting Tatum no matter what and it was still a top three pick . So if the Knicks have some player who they think is the best player in the draft and they can GUARANTEE that they can draft him with a trade and get picks ( unprotected ones )then I guess . But I don’t think it’s that feasible in this draft and with the new format. I’m not saying draft Barrett if they don’t have him as the pick I’m saying if they have him as th pick draft him and don’t be cute . Boston said if they stayed pat they were taking Tatum anyway and if we feel that strongly about Barrett we need to just take him

Everything written about this rumor was that the trade wouldn’t go down until the draft. Basically the Knicks draft Barrett, see who’s still there at 8 and then pull the trigger. Them setting it up now is just smart planning. Iron the details down for the possibility of it on draft night.

No offense that is a bad idea tbh . If the KNICKS think Barrett is a player worthy of drafting at 3 as In he’s a star level player then take him at 3 . Again in your scenario the Knicks are drafting him at 3 while hoping to get the 8 and 10 pick BUT there a bunch of picks in between so it’s no possible way they can guarantee that they player they want is there. I get people wanting assets but this team needs stars we’ve shown we can draft the supplemental pieces . We need top line talent now . And I’m not comfortable with these suggestions especially with the new system. Also they rumored Knicks would trade the pick before the lottery even began so I’m skeptical . Whatever happens I’m giving the FO the benefit of the doubt . However I’ve yet to read any trade scenario that I’m Like yes do that

Steph Curry was picked at 9, Donovan Mitchell at 8, stars are hard to find. We're not sure R.J. will be a star out the gate right away but trading in our pick for 2 top 10s increases our odds of finding a star or 2. If Cam is a bust, Bol Bol might be a star and so on...
