I said they should get their money, that's what their supposed to do

But WE, as in American Black ppl should be speaking out
Against what? Unless your white counterparts also speak up too Hollywood will always give their roles to the Brit’s black or white.

Samuel Jackson, Cicely Tyson, others have all said the same over the years. I doubt they were hating on British breh's and brehrettes, They've been in Hollywood for decades so they probably know that its probably some bs behind a lot of this.

It’s hard to speak out if you’re not the person directing casting, better than speaking out would be actually controlling production, speaking out isn’t enough Jordan Peele is a black director and he gave Daniel Kaaluya a role that could have gone to a Black American actor..

You can’t expect white American directors and production companies to care about the distinction, when they also have no problem hiring White Australian or White British actors...

If it costs less for them to do the same job they’ll go with the cheaper option, this is capitalism 101, despite that there wasn’t a Black British actor who was getting more significant roles than Majors..

British actors (black and white) typically have more experience and better training than American actors. Don’t know if it’s true, but It was pointed out in an article that we overvalue superficial things like looks at the expense of skills in the U.S.

We need to bring back the arts in school and community theaters where actors can receive training and experience.
This is almost the exact situation with Black players in baseball

It’s not just the accent, it’s the culture and history that is specific to Black Americans yet they’re flying in others who claim that our culture doesn’t even exist yet they’re playing in it. It gives very much xenophobic

When has John Boyega Daniel Kaaluya Damson Idris (I can’t think of anymore) said this?

I’m not buying the “british people are classically trained” argument. Its actually pretty lazy. We’ve witnessed amazing african american l actors/actresses who didn’t go that route but were still given roles and allowed to sustain in hollywood. And evidence shows that you dont need to attend theater/acting school to be a great actor/actress.

This is happening for a different reason

We've discussed it already. The top black British actors are classically trained and have extensive theater experience. From Idris Elba to Damson Idris and everyone in between. Many American actors came from New York acting schools at one point but television has opened the door to less trained, less "professional actor" actors over the last couple decades. For every Jonathan Majors, who is classically trained, there are handsome men and attractive women who can't really act but get hired because they fit whatever Instagram image the show wants.

You can scroll through the casts of BMF, Power, most MCU shows, etc and see a lot of American actors who didn't go to school for it. That's not to say non-classically trained actors can't act. Joaquin Phoenix is arguably the best actor right now and didn't go to acting school. But when you're auditioning against classically trained actors who are used to doing Shakespeare you're gonna lose that audition unless you're really fukking good. And a lot of these young American actors today aren't...that good. You see it in the acting you see in shows and films they're in.

Its like nowadays when American actors, black or white, meet up with intense competition, they don't even make an attempt to step their game up.
