Would it be a problem to learn all the romance languages at once or should I master one so the others come easier for me? I'm bout to start using duolingo and dedicate an hour each night for immersion through TV programs or music.

Nah breh, your brain is like any other muscles, you always want to switch it up on your brain, the same way you switch up between, flat bench, incline bench, and decline bench, is the same way you should keep your brain active. The main thing is to make sure your brain is actually struggling (not meaning you're stupid, meaning that the gears are grinding trying to absorb info), as long as you are always focused, then by all means bro do it. Learning italian is so easy after you learn spanish and vice versa, it's easier to learn Vietnamese after learning Chinese, etc etc. :salute: to your thirst for knowledge big home, let's hope Kobe comes back 100% this year

You're doing it right then. I'd recommend you Le Monde newspaper (not the website) because it's really rich and has some great in-depth articles. About the movies, well, they won't really help you with grammar as a spoken language is less interesting than written one in that matter but it's good for vocabulary and to understand the wording.

So about movies, this is a post I already did in another thread so I just copy/pasted:

You could also, if you like TV cop shows, get into Braquo (two seasons) or Engrenages (four seasons) which are great series. Try La Commune also if you're into hood stuff.

Anyway, good flicks I saw
- 36 Quai des Orfèvres
- A prophet
- Polisse
- Présumé coupable
- Dans la maison
- Holy Motors
- Mesrine

Good french flicks (by the critics) but I didn't see them and I won't.
- The Artist
- La Vie d'Adèle
- Intouchables
- Tomboy (I may watch that one)
- Jeune & Jolie
- Jappeloup
- Des hommes et des dieux

They are old but they are gold and I saw them
- De battre mon coeur s'est arrété
- Le convoyeur
- Entre les murs
- L'esquive
- L'emploi du temps
- Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
- 8 femmes
- Ne le dis à personne

Watch em in French with English subs.

Brehs if yall ain't fukk with duolingo yet do that shyt! I'm hooked to this shyt, I learned Amharic through listening and linking the words to their English meanings so this method duolingo uses is exactly the way I learned my language. If any of yall are strong auditory/visual learners this duolingo shyt might be for you. :tu:

I just added Dutch but so far I've been doing Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, and German. The romance languages have been easier to pick up since they all have similarities with each other, but I'm glad I just added Dutch today cuz it has similarities to German that I'm all too glad to find cuz German ain't easy.

This website provides lessons for 50 languages, European and Asian. It is similar to Assimil but will only take you to A2 level. They do sell books for about $10 US plus shipping but you don't even have to buy that.

If you have friends that don't speak English, they can also use the site in their mother tongue.

http://www.goethe-verlag.com/book2/

ETA: It costs 2-6 Euros to sign up for the complete lessons.

Damn, I need to step up my language learning skills. I don't read, listen to music or watch tv & movies much in the languages I have fluency..... Unfortunately, I can't speak French.

Willing to help anyone that wants to learn Spanish and looking for someone that can speak Brazilian Portuguese or Italian for language exchange.

I honestly don't other than Professor Jason from YouTube and Barons 501 Brazilian/Portuguese Verbs that also gives a decent overview of Portuguese grammar. I haven't gotten serious about learning another language because I'm trying to finish up mastering Spanish , and to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm going to learn another language. If I do, it'll be a African one.

A little correction should be done about the numbers of french-speaking people : 67.8M is more or less the French population but french-speaking people are way more than just the French, it's also Belgium and all of the countries from the ex-colonial empire. The Francophonie (french-speaking population) is more like 200M+ people.
