Why :cape: people that increase rent every year, when the space itself isn't growing?

Before this pandemic, landlords were,
making historic profits and taking a higher and higher %age of people income than ANY TIME IN RECORDED HISTORY. Your parents and grandparents never paid more than 15% of their monthly income on rent back in their day. Now it's 50% to 60% of people's monthly income. For a basic place to live.

And where are these new tenants in this day and age, with record job losses?

Yep, landlord are scumbags and super exploitative

If you’re living in someone’s apartment or living space, then you owe them rent. It’s not that difficult of a concept to grab.

People seem to be slow or don’t understand how things work.

Its a PANDEMIC

and no new tenants left to pay high rents. Where are these magical new tenants coming from?

And imagine if those tenants decide to kill you, if they have nothing less to lose? :sas2:

You dont make an essential good into a BUSINESS, since after all, you live in socialist azz CANADA where everyone gets paid to stay home in the pandemic.

Nikka it don’t matter whether a pandemic is going on or not.

The apartment or living space is not going to stop generating rent just because the tenant doesn’t have it to. That’s the part you don’t seem to grasp. That money will have to be paid by the tenant eventually regardless of whether they have it or not. All it’s literally doing is putting tenants more and more in the red with rent and late fees.

If they keep getting further and further behind, then how will they theoretically be able to catch up? You’re making it personal, when it’s a business.

Remember, more homeless people = to more people committing crime. Which further devalues your property.

nikka, Canada has some of the most expensive rent and mortgages in the world, you think some government assistance is actually enough to pay people to stay home:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

Cerb was 2000 a month, thats not paying for anyones rent or mortage that lives in anything bigger than a 'shytty' apartment.:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

So what is your solution to the problem then? A lot of those tenants are not going to be able to catch up on rent and will eventually get evicted it’s a matter of when. Those eviction papers are going to eventually make it to the tenant. If the current landlord don’t kick out the tenants, then the banks eventually will when they take over the property.

You’re also dealing with potential situations now where the landlord is harassing and could potentially threaten with bodily harm to tenants if they don’t get out.

800 billion dollars for the military

Over 100 billion dollars in foreign aid

3 billion just for israel to fund its military

CUT THAT SHYT OFF

We dont need troops in 200 different countries, we need the help at home. We cant be giving out foreign aid when americans are being thrown out in the street and the government tells you u cant work but u stiil need to pay bills.

The government should be providing for every single last landlord/mortgage including utilities until this historic fukkup that they allowed to happen is over. These millionaires in political power are the ones at fault, not the landlord or the unfortunate renter who cant work. Its neither sides fault. These rich people are playing the public like puppets and turning us against each other.

People just want free shyt, ignoring the leases and contracts they signed up for. Whether it’s college loans they agreed to pay back and now don’t want to, or rent they agreed to pay for x amount of months they now don’t want to etc.

The kicking the can down the road that they have been doing is only making things worse. Not once have I heard a remedy for landlords mentioned eventhough it’s exactly what they will have to do.

Easy for you to say that when you live in a country with universal healthcare and no one going bankrupt with COVID. And social benefits extended in the pandemic.

It’s mind boggling that people are trying to justify it.

It has to be mad uncomfortable ducking and dodging the landlord knowing that you are living in their space for free or not trying to pay anything at all.
