Ight breh you right because you just keep bringing up super bowls and shyt
The Super Bowls matter, dog...
Lamar was a full time starter in '19, so to me, the comp is simple...
From 2019-22, a 4-year stretch, Mahomes was the better player. In those 4 years, Mahomes went 2-1 in Super Bowls, 3-1 in the AFCCG, and was simply a more developed and consistent player, by a pretty wide margin. In that same span of time, Lamar lost the ends of two consecutive seasons to injury, never got out of the Divisional round, and was just an inferior quarterback...
The past two seasons, 2023-24, another gear flipped and Lamar has ascended. He's been better than Mahomes two consecutive regular seasons. This postseason remains to be seen, but in their only H2H last year, Lamar choked (again), and was outplayed by Mahomes...
The entire premise of this thread, is that Lamar is a ring away from being right there with Mahomes, and its because this isnt a ring counting exercise. So for me it ain't about, "well this guy won more"...
Lamar's impact and dominance on the sport is at legendary levels without a ring. Stylistically they play differently, but watching Lamar manipulate defenses and control games is equal to the best I've seen from Pat----->in the regular season. He's obviously never done it in the postseason, so that's what's missing from the resume, as is Lamar is already a Top 20 All-Timer...
He can't
pass Mahomes with ine ring and one hot run, which is why I never once said in here, "he leaps over Mahomes with a ring".....because he doesn't, not with one.
But if Lamar gets this f'in title, a real watch begins. Both are less than 10 years in The League, so in theory there's a LOT of career left for both of em. If he gets this ring, having already elevated his play to Mahomes level, having won the most MVPs in "Mahomes era", having more 1st Team All-Pros in the "Mahomes era", a real watch is on...
Regardless of what the critics of this board say, NFL people are telling you how closely they regard the two when one guy has never made a Super Bowl, the other guy has won 3 of 4 SB appearances, and the guy with 0 SB appearances has more MVPs, 1st Team All-Pros, and tied in All-Pros period. The guy with 0 SB runs also has two lost years to injury, while the guy with all the rings hasn't had a single year cut short yet....
So NFL people are watching Mahomes' dominance and are telling you how close they think the two are, regardless of how mf's here act like the gap today is as wide as it was 3+ years ago...
But the first thing is, he gotta win this championship. He'll remain behind Mahomes until he gets one, and fall further behind if Mahomes keeps winning. But as is, Lamar has closed the gap between he and Mahomes more than any other quarterback...
Since we got enough black QBs in the league now that I no longer have to stan for Mahomes.
Lamar>Mahomes
so you stanned the white man, Mahomes? The only white QB I stan is Goff...
