Taking out a sitting Senator or House member in favor of someone else in the primary can have bad consequences and actually help the other party win the seat. MAGA cost the GOP several seats doing this and Progressives have cost Dems seats doing this too.

This doesn't apply if the incumbent is wildly unpopular with the general electorate.

Sinema is probably the best bet for Arizona. If she was primaried, that person would likely go on to lose to the Republican candidate.

I'm not sure if a split vote works in anyone's favor.

So my first thought on this situation is that having her elected is not that different from having a republican senator and that Democrats should call her bluff and run their own candidate.

I think ending her political career is a win for the Dems.

I think those two guys are a little bit different because they're in regional areas where their policies have to be different based upon the people that are in their states.

There are not a lot of Democrats moving to Louisiana or Kentucky- Arizona is a bit different. It has a ton of transplants from everywhere and straight up Dem will work. Hence why they have all Dems in office now.

Ain't nobody rushing to move to Kentucky or Louisiana so you got who you got there as residents.

Plus Edwards or Andy would air their differences privately and not be an attention whore. If I'm Andy I wouldn't even entertain a Senate run until Mitch passes away.

Those guys are professionals and would act like it.
