Sinema is probably the best bet for Arizona. If she was primaried, that person would likely go on to lose to the Republican candidate.

I'm not sure if a split vote works in anyone's favor.

This is what happens when you let former Green Party members have a prominent place in your party. Greens aren't principled left-wingers. They're completely unserious, just like Sinema.

Gallego was going to smoke her in the primary anyway, and I think it's hard to win a GE when you primary your own party member. I was counting her seat as lost already because she's mishandled it so poorly.

Arizona just handed a five-point win to Mark Kelly. She's a terrible bet for Arizona. At least you can say Manchin is a Dem who needs to try and win in a poor white state like WV. Arizona is not that demographic at all.

The funny thing about this is that she clearly decided on this months ago under the assumption that democrats would get blasted in the midterms, which she would use to justify moving away from the party. Now, after a historical performance from democrats (including every state wide Arizona dem candidate winning) this decision looks laughable. Mark Kelly voted with Biden on nearly everything and skated to re-election. He's likely going to be a senator for life, if he wants it. Pure ego and attention whore vibes.

She's clearly going to lose if she runs for re-election. I have a feeling she's instead setting up a lobbying career and will spend the next couple years funneling as much money as possible into the pockets of potential corporate clients.
This is it exactly

An ideal scenario would be: Now that Katie Hobbs is Governor of AZ, if I was Biden, I'd have appointed her to some admin role or ambassadorship and get Hobbs to appoint her replacement who can run in 2024 with incumbency built in.

that's still a possibility, but i don't think sinema would go for that. doesn't seem like enough cachet for her own sense of importance. plus you can't campaign (pocket $$$) off admin/ambassador roles. i'm pretty sure big money on the right wants her to keep being an agent of disruption.

how is this the democrats fault you fukkin troll?

This witch was a fukking Green Party member in Arizona when she started out
she doesn't even vote inline with the green parties ideals and platform, it's obvious she was an opportunist saying what some people wanted to hear to get a foothold into public office.

It would be smart but it would require her to trust Biden not to replace her no long after and for her to not to be about that paper.

I think she is all in on being a lobbyist. Like @Piff Perkins said this move politically only makes sense if Dems lost the Senate. There is a legit chance the Dems might win both chambers come 2024 and unless she gets herself a Golden Parachutes with Lobbyist she is done on all levels.

I guarantee you that you did not know who she was before she was a senator. Stop talking out your ass. Of course we know she’s a piece of crap now but no one knew this could happen until the last 2 years

:why: then why exactly is Mark Kelly far more popular than Sinema in AZ?
These two things do not relate.

Taking out a sitting Senator or House member in favor of someone else in the primary can have bad consequences and actually help the other party win the seat. MAGA cost the GOP several seats doing this and Progressives have cost Dems seats doing this too.
