I side with R=G on this one, Angle's first couple years were not that good. Lesnar's first year, for one, was better. Angle was good as an annoying heel, but he hadn't come into his own a a character and especially as a worker.

He was far from a great worker those first couple years, most of those matches were just punch/kick matches with a lot of interference that are overrated in light of his credentials and how good he ended up getting in 02/03. Those Austin matches ho hold up though, that's why he's giving him credit here.

Bret did that so hopefully Austin would guide Angle through that :win:

On the contrary, the lesser posters think too highly of guys they believe to be all time greats. I just shed light on something that should be common knowledge. Very simple.

No it was easy to say he was a better rookie because his ring work was light years ahead of Rock at any stage.

Bah. Spot worker. Pretty much did what RVD did but masked it as "technical wrestling." There wasn't a damn thing technical about Angle matches in 2000 and 2001. LOL. The Rock was a MUCH, MUCH better storyteller than Kurt and that's why he got the most out of Hogan in 2002 than anyone else and always had crowds into what he did more than any Angle spotfest. I love threads like these. Exposes the overrated and puts the spotlight on the underrated.

If you want to praise Kurt over his comedy mic work? It was good and he had a good run. Good lines with Booker, Sharmell, Rock, Cripple H, Jericho, Austin, Vince, Eddie, all of that..but that's about it.

The IWC always has to be different

People have been trying to say Kurt wasn't great in the ring yet you won't find one person who actually wrestles for a living who doesn't think Angle is an all-time level talent.

Funny who that works :yeshrug:

Most of the half wits who are in the industry are broke and depend on the McMahons for everything they have. So they're not the big resource to run to be evaluating talent on a historical level. Angle is the GOAT but Macho Man isn't? Jake the Snake isn't HOF but Kurt Angle is? I mean..the WWE hype machine would sell that notion a million times over. Those idiots that are left in ROH and all these wannabe stars think they know what works but there are only a few real TOP names in pro wrestling and everything else is just a collabo. Angle was pushed to the top and learned a good WWE spot style that they like to praise. That's it. Guys like Kurt Angle couldn't dream of putting together what Kawada or Misawa was doing when they were in their prime. He transitioned well from Amat wrestling. That's his best accomplishment.

But no one said he was the GOAT in the ring. But he's one of the best. One of the greatest technicians ever with countless number of great matches. You're acting like he's Randy Orton or something.

He's the GOAT because to me he's had the best of everything. Mic work, Charisma, Ring Work, Fan Support, and Star Quality. He's not my favorite in the ring, that's D Bry Steamboat, and Kobashi nor is he my favorite on the mic which is Punk and Steiner. Macho didn't connect with me like Angle did plus I'm not that old.

Angle wasn't some bum that could only do this and that. He can wrestle anyone on the planet and put on a great show. That includes Mr. Kennedy

I pointed out his rookie year faults. Nyggas got angry as fukk about that:laugh: Same stupid nobody ass nyggas but angry nonetheless. Except for Klassik since he was just inquiring for why I said what I said.

As for you? I see. You're more of the backend of the Attitude Era kids. Well I saw Macho Man at his best and he had a superstar aura and energy from day one. I KNOW everyone here needs Youtube to confirm that over and over again without that DVD but it's the truth and Kurt Angle just didn't have a career that could touch the Mega Powers build or the carryjob of the Ultimate Warrior or all of that ORIGINAL fukkery with Sensantional Sherri.

And as for wrestling anybody and making something out of nothing? That's what Savage did. That's what Eddie did. Angle is a follower in that regard and I could never see him as an equal to all time great talents of that accord. LOL@the dude no selling in several matches with the run up the ropes shyt out of nowhere. That's Hardy level.

Nope, I've been watching wrestling since the early 90s. I've just never been a fan of the WWE like that but since it's the only thing on now it is what it is. I never said Savage wasn't great I just prefer Kurt Angle.

When Angle's healthy and given time the match is gonna be good no matter who's on the other side of the ring. It's just undisputed fact. Too many times has he taken a decent affair on paper and turned it up a notch.

I thought it was dope that he brought 'playing possum' back.

Every wrestler 'no sells' at some point in the match and goes off, Angle just made a spot of it.

So first he was copying Benoit and now he was copying RVD?

How did he mask what RVD was doing as technical wrestling? Dont just pull names out of nowhere without explaining where your coming from because for me there is zero similarity between the two.

Give me Angle's solid ring work any day over Rock's same old storytelling. Seen it once, seen it enough . Rinse, repeat, yawn.
