Xbox going to keep selling hardware to keep selling gamepass.
out of all the console makers, xbox stands to lose the most users to PC because all they have is available over there day and date.

They'll quit playing the console game all together at some point, or release a streaming only machine/handheld.

and at that point they'll be competing with steam and the steam deck.

The console war was never something Xbox was going to win in a traditional fashion of out selling PlayStation on the hardware front. Nor do I think that was ever an end goal.

Maybe a year or quarter here and there but overall, it was never happening. And that was solidified once digital libraries started being acquired on different platforms.

There is a reason you have these other big million and billion dollar companies that hop in and try to release some kind of console hardware or platform and hope right back out a year or so later.

The gaming market is ever changing, most people don't realize how much so. But as a 80's baby I can tell you I went from 8 bit graphics consoles, to tiger handhelds, to arcade machines, to handhelds, to VR, to online gaming, to mobile, and now cloud and digital gaming.

It's just wild to see Sony stans and the whole industry holding on to console sales when that stat isn't really going to determine who is successful or doing well or not. Infact, its actually the worst spot for Sony to be in currently unless they start embracing the way of gamepass ( not just the day and date stuff) and start making PS accessible from every and anything. Having to sell 800 dollar machines to break even, compared to Nintendo's cheaper hardware and MS being everywhere... it can get ruff quickly. On top of that having 200 million dollar game budgets that you only selling exclusively on one platform for a 10 months to a year...

Fam, Xbox was competing with PS. You can deny all you want. But 360 did very well. Especially in the US.

You want the console market to die because your team didn't win. Plenty of folks are still in the console market and there is money to be made.

Games been day and date. But that's irrelevant to the point

If we move to a space where console is no longer more convenient than PC gaming then consoles are dead anyway

Ultimately they should be looking to make their business more profitable.
