:what:

The only weabo thing in japan are the mainstream crap. You see titles like To-Love Ru getting much popular than let's say Samurai Champloo or Hellsing :scust:. But to disregard other gold anime past the 90's? :camby:

While titles like Fist of North Star and Saint Seiya have their moments, they are not much different from titles like Naruto or One Piece. Even those "moe" titles you despise have moments. Titles like Clannad are something that can only be pulled by a studio like Ghibli. Code Geass and Gurren Laggan are mecha anime to watch this gen (or last gen)

Updated Box Art Appears for Metal Gear Solid V; Removes Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions Branding

4181

Earlier this year, news struck of an apparent conflict between Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and the series’ long-time publisher Konami, and following a series of rumors and developments that is leading to Kojima’s apparent departure from the company, another development seems to show the ties splitting between the two parties.

Users on NeoGAF noted that new box art uploaded to Konami’s press assets page for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain have been updated for the game’s final box art at release: however, the key notable change from the previous final box art is the removal of “A Hideo Kojima Game” at the top of the box art, while the logo for Kojima Productions at the bottom of the cover has also been removed.

Following the disbanding of Kojima Productions late last week, the removal of Kojima’s name is unfortunately another nail in the coffin in the ongoing disputes between Kojima and Konami, with a comparison between the previous box art and the newly updated box art below:

This is a ruse. Kojima is in on it. This is kayfabe and the phantom pain will follow this kayfabe thinking. I have a feeling kojima is playing us and konami is complicit.

Phantom Pain will be amazing.

More general Konami fukkery:

コナミ、ほころび始めた「上月王国」

Source is in Japanese (and you have to be a member for some reason to look at the full article) but here's what was translated:

Thomas James (@iiotenki) on Twitter

Dr. Serkan Toto @serkantoto

@JeffGrubb @markmacd The article says that Kojima fell from grace because MGS 5 got delayed. It also talks about certain work conditions at

Dr. Serkan Toto @serkantoto

@markmacd Actually, there is more. The article says employees get controlled with cameras+punch clocks etc

Dr. Serkan Toto @serkantoto

@CSX142857 @JeffGrubb @markmacd The article lists 2 other options for Konami, one being letting people work as security in their HQ. No joke

Here are some more tidbits

Thomas James @iiotenki

It doesn't stop with emails. Lunchtime leave is regulated with time cards. Those who exceed allotted time are outed within company.

Thomas James @iiotenki

Jesus, Konami's internal culture sounds poisonous. For one, email with outsiders is done with a randomized email address changed regularly.

Thomas James @iiotenki

One employee feels turning point was when Konami launched Dragon Collection for mobile. Lots of money made with sub-$1 mil budget.

Thomas James @iiotenki

As already known, Love Plus creator left. Development halted for Tokimeki Memori and Suikoden, as well.

Thomas James @iiotenki

Jesus, this Nikkei article on Konami. $80+ million spent on MGS5's dev as of April if it's to be believed.

Thomas James
@iiotenki

Employees deemed useless have been known to do assemblyline work, security guard detail, cleanup at fitness clubs.

They probably got some legends in there cleaning toilets instead of putting out games.:wtf:

Scathing Nikkei Report Hints At Shameful Treatment Of Staff By Dictatorial Konami Management
Konami out here enslaving staff Karl Marx would not be happy

"Elsewhere in the report, working conditions at Konami have been reported as particularly harsh. Email exchanges with people outside of the company are handled via randomised email accounts, and lunchtime breaks are regulated with punch-cards to ensure staff are back at their desks at the allotted time. Those who run over are allegedly outed within the company.

More worrying is the news that employees who are seen as under-performing have been used in other areas of Konami's business empire, such as cleaning its line of leisure and fitness centres or standing in as security guards. This apparently isn't limited to lowly programmers, but has also been the fate of producers and senior development staff."
