The Spurs weren't that good that year. The story line behind the Spurs that year was good Duncan was than how far the Spurs were going to go in the playoffs. They barely beat the Sonics that year

It's kinda hard for Kobe to beat the 90s bulls a team whos two best players are Pippen and Rodman. People forget Rodman can score if needed, nikka did average like 20 in college. Not to mention you got nikkas like Kerr off the bench
