Kobe Bryant was instrumental in launch of National Museum of African American History and Culture
The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation is a founding donor of the NMAAHC

WASHINGTON — The 2016 opening of the National Museum of African American History and Culture was a celebration a long time coming thanks to the generous donations of many. Among its founding donors: The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation contributing more than a million dollars.

The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation was founded in 2006, originally called the VIVO Foundation. The charity was created in an effort to financially support young people in "life-changing experiences designed to broaden their global perspectives," according to the Foundation's mission statement. Change lives it did- since it's creation, the charity initiative also provided countless scholarships for minority college students and youth worldwide, as well as worked with the Make a Wish Foundation.

It's only fitting that Kobe Bryant is among the giants in the hallowed halls of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. A signed No. 8 Lakers Jersey has a home in the sports exhibit along with the one he wore as No. 24 in the 2008 NBA Finals.

Off the court, there's a picture capturing an intimate moment of Bryant lounging in New York back in 2002.

i could understand why vanessa wouldn't want shyt public, i still think i've never heard her speak with her voice in her life and she lost her husband and DAUGHTER.

that being said there still gotta be another memorial at staples and it gotta be michael jackson status. kobe built that place.

Staples Center ain't big enough to contain it all, if they do one it might be at the Coliseum

I cant believe the hate that bron/kobe fans threw at each other all these years and then I turn around and see the enormous amount of love/respect they both had towards each other. Not to say that should force anyone to like a certain player or vice versa but I saw some Twitter comments today and I realized its so toxic there towards both men. Like even after Kobe's death. People were wylin last night after the loss. The coli has had and still have their fan battles but I aint never seen some of the crazy shyt here than elsewhere (Youtube, Twitter, IG, FB) Makes you really appreciate this place and in many ways helps with the grief. Its good to come on here and mostly not have to worry about people bring up Kobe's past or how Bron was being fake etc. Seeing shyt like that really messes with your mind. I want to grieve and celebrate. Look at positive posts and watch tribute/highlight vids. Thats the stuff that makes you smile among it all. To all yall out there trying to hold on, much love to you all. It will get better.
